We had the good fortune of connecting with Ti’Aira Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ti’Aira, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe in taking good risks; because there are also bad risks that have negative consequences. As far as my life and career, is it necessary that I take risks because the reward is always greater. From the saying “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” to Drake’s song “The Motto” that emphasizes the phrase “YOLO (you only live once”, is it evident, that we should live life to the fullest and pursue whatever it is out there that we want. I am a strong believer that we are able to have whatever we want in this life as long as we put in the work and have faith in God. Like they say, “faith without work is dead.” And that “work”, is the risk that we need to be willing to take, because that’s what’s going to get you there. Honestly it takes a lot of courage being a risk taker because it requires me to make uncomfortable decisions and sometimes failure can be a result; things don’t always work. But I charge it to the game every time and relax knowing that I gave my all in whatever I aspired to do. Taking risks eliminates the possibility of looking back and asking “what if?” Even if I fail, I always walk away with more experience and knowledge and for that I’ll always be content in risk taking. Because, I have plenty more opportunities to try again and other times things end up going right/ working out! For example, in March of 2021, I decided to quit my job to pursue my dreams and aspirations. I needed that freedom of time, and I realized that committing myself to a job would keep me the opposite of where I was trying to go. Long story short, I launched TLC Graphics and it’s been up ever since. Most days I make more money in the comfort of my own home doing graphics, than I did doing a shift at work. Humbly bragging of course! So it’s all up to us, we can either be comfortable and settle or get up and chase more life — and I’m choosing more life every time.

What should our readers know about your business?
TLC Graphics is a business founded by myself, Ti’Aira L. Carter, that provides graphic design and brand styling services. What sets TLC Graphics apart from others is that I build brands and bosses with TLC. I believe love is my legacy so I make sure to incorporate that into everything I do. When it comes to graphics, I tend to every client/project with lots of love and strategic care. I love brands so others can too! That’s the TLC Way. I am most proud of how far I’ve come in such little time, especially when it comes to clientele. And I am excited about all of the future clients and brand collaborations that’s to come! I’m also excited about the launching of new services and just upgrading TLC Graphics to its fullest potential. I’ve gotten TLC Graphics to where it is today by believing in myself and taking the risk to invest. Graphic design has always come to easy to me, but as my dad always says, “you can never know too much” so it’s important to always seek more knowledge. That’s exactly what I did; I took a few graphics courses, did lots of research, and put myself out there! I believe everything is what you make it so honestly the process was not hard. I don’t want to say it was easy either because nothing good and worthwhile comes easy, but like I said I took the necessary steps that put me in a much better position. I must admit that the graphic designer community is saturated, so standing out is KEY, very much important — that’s the only “challenge” in my opinion, because everything else is a competition of me vs. me. A few lessons I’ve learned along the way is stay true to yourself — if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything, rest and take breaks — or you’ll burn yourself out, and so much more. As the CEO and founder of TLC Graphics, I’d like for the world to know that love is the strongest force that we possess. Show love, receive it too, surround yourself wherever the love is at. You’ll never lose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is the best place to explore and try new things so here’s a few honorable mentions. As far as eating, I love a place with really good food/drinks and a nice vibe, all for an affordable price. A few places that’ll give you that are: Juicy Crab and/or The Pirate’s Boil, Orient Express, and there’s a number of cool restaurants located at two of my favorite spots: The Battery and Atlantic Station. When it comes to hang out spots and activities a few of my favorite places are: AMC/Main Event, Sahara Lounge, Andretti, Downtown Atlanta because there’s literally so much to do like ride the scooters, go to the aquarium, the Coca-Cola Factory, or even ride the Sky View ferris wheel. The list goes on and on, but Atlanta is most definitely the place to come if you want to go out and have a good time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my dad, CEO and founder of The Concrete Doctors Ga. I am so blessed to have him in my everyday life and experience the amazing role he plays to me. When it comes to love and support, I have that unconditionally from him and vise versa. When it comes to any busy idea or a desired move, he’s on it trying to make it happen for me. Back in March of 2021, I took a leap of faith and decided to quit my well paying job to pursue my own dreams and aspirations, because I desperately needed that freedom of time. I was a little nervous to tell my dad the news — he’s an ambitious paper chaser, literally get’s up and get’s to it everyday, so I didn’t want him to feel like I let a good thing go; as well as not putting in my two weeks notice lol. Long story short, I launched my business TLC Graphics and my dad has supported me every step of the way. He even hired me to be his graphic designer for all of his business branding needs. So far I’ve created a few things for him like business cards, car decal/stickers, logo designs, etc!
