We had the good fortune of connecting with Tia Freeman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I see risk as a vital part of growth and success, not just in my career but in life. For me, risk-taking is exhilarating because it’s an opportunity to step outside of societal norms and pursue what truly matters to me. I firmly believe that extraordinary achievements require stepping out of your comfort zone, and that’s been a guiding principle throughout my journey.
Taking risks has been the foundation of my career. Deciding to prioritize content creation and eventually make it my full-time pursuit was a significant leap. It meant leaving behind traditional job security and trusting in my vision and abilities. I knew that if things didn’t work out, I had a safety net, which is a privilege I don’t take lightly. That support system gave me the confidence to take bigger risks and fully commit to my goals.
Risk-taking also plays a deeper role in how I’ve approached my creative process. This career comes with uncertainties—how people will react to your content, whether brands will align with your vision, or if algorithms will favor your work. But instead of letting that deter me, I’ve leaned into it. I focus on what I can control—creating authentic, high-quality content—and trust that the risks I take will eventually lead to rewards.
Interestingly, while some aspects of this career might seem risky or intimidating to others, they feel natural to me. I’ve been editing and creating since I was a child, so the technical challenges aren’t what scare me. The harder part is managing the emotional and social risks, like putting yourself out there and being vulnerable. Yet even that is part of what makes this path rewarding—because every risk I take aligns with my passion and purpose.
In summary, taking risks has not only shaped my career but also allowed me to build a life that reflects my values and dreams. I believe that without taking those leaps, I wouldn’t have the opportunities, freedom, or fulfillment that I enjoy today. You really do have to “risk it to get the biscuit!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is all about storytelling—creating content that feels commercial-grade but still authentic and personal. That balance is something I’m really proud of because it’s not easy to strike. My editing style, which feels fast-paced and emotionally engaging, is something I’ve honed since childhood. Editing comes naturally to me; it’s been part of my life for as long as I can remember. What sets me apart, though, is the dedication I put into making my content stand out in a saturated space. Even when it feels like there’s always more I could do, I put my own flair into everything I create.
Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy. It’s been years of trial, error, and consistency. I didn’t expect to go full-time with content creation as quickly as I did, and I know how rare that is. Many people put in years without seeing the kind of growth I’ve experienced. That said, it wasn’t an overnight thing. I’ve been creating and editing content since I was a kid, so I’ve had a lot of practice refining my skills and figuring out what resonates with people.
The challenges? Oh, there were plenty. From doubting myself to navigating imposter syndrome, I’ve had to remind myself that I’m doing what I’m meant to be doing. Risk-taking has been a huge part of this journey, and while it’s exhilarating, it’s also scary at times. But I’ve learned that risks are necessary if you want to live a life that’s above average or outside the box. And I’ve been incredibly privileged to have a safety net—my family’s support made it easier to take those risks and go after what I really wanted.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about me and my brand, it’s that I’ve built this with a mix of passion, persistence, and a refusal to settle for anything less than what feels right for me. I love what I do, and even on the hardest days, I know I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. My story isn’t just about me—it’s about inspiring others to follow their own paths, even when it feels uncertain or unconventional. Because at the end of the day, your life should reflect who you are and what you love.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Westside Provisions District is my favorite neighborhood in Atlanta because it feels like the perfect mix of the burbs and the city. Also, one of my favorite activities is trying new food, so I would want my friend to experience all my neighborhood favorite restaurants (listed below)
Rreal Tacos, West Midtown. (That location specifically!)
Postinos
Barcelona Wine Bar
I’m also a fiend for a great coffee – Bar Premio has a gorgeous aesthetic for capturing content and getting a delicious coffee.
Nobody should come to Atlanta and NOT walk the BeltLine, so that is a must. My favorite spots on the Beltline are Nina & Rafi’s Pizza, Jenis and Guac Y Margys.
Little Five Points is also a must-see in my opinion. It’s funky, grungy and interesting.
Some time at The HIGH is also required.
Lastly my favorite breakfast spot is Thumbs Up Diner.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh, 100%, my mom deserves a huge shoutout. She’s been my biggest cheerleader since day one, and her confidence in me is unmatched. When I ran track in high school, she fully believed I was going to the Olympics and she still maintains that I could have. She was practically ready to start selling tickets to my races. Knowing that she truly believes I can do anything – Its impossible not to carry that energy into everything I do.
She’s always been this way. Whether it was editing videos in middle school or taking big career risks as an adult, she’s had this unshakable faith in my ability to succeed. And honestly, having someone like that in your corner makes all the difference.
