We had the good fortune of connecting with Thiago Machado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thiago, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The main idea was born with the dream of taking from São Paulo – Brazil to the U.S. all of those delicious pizzas that I used to enjoy during my childhood and also share with the local Brazilian community that misses this special Brazilian flavor. My goal became to be part of a bussiness which will spread how unique Brazilian pizza is and how it has been winning hearts of different communities and cultures!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Facing a new city, new culture and not knowing anyone was definetely one of the most challeging experiences of my live and it wasn’t easy at all, but what helped me was focus 100% in our product and every customer’s experience. One of the greatest lessons that I’ve learned along the way is that every detail counts! My team and I are always paying attention to everything, starting with the quality of each ingredients that we use, the texture that the pizza will arrive at the customer’s home when delivered, the details of customer’s service in each call that we receive and last but not least, the resolution of customer’s opinions and their setbacks. Everything was essential to overcome all the difficulties in the beginning and I believe that is what makes Brasiliana different from others. That makes me proud about this whole journey! Brasiliana’s goal is to bring an unforgettable experience of a Brazilian pizzeria directly to customer’s home.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ll definitely take him to Ponce City Market (one of my favorite spots in the city), spend the evening at the restaurant 9 Mile Station, and enjoy one of the best Carpaccio in town. A picnic at Piedmont Park, riding a bike at Beltline, and stopping by in one of the dozens of amazing options to choose along the way would be great options as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father Wagner Machado is one of the biggest entrepreneurs that I’ve ever met. It was through him that I’ve learned everything that I know and he is certainly my biggest inspiration and the main reason that everything was possible. There’s a book that also motivated me a lot during my entrepreneurial trajectory called “Dream Big”, by entrepreneurs Jorge Paulo Lemann, Marcel Telles, and Beto Sicupira.
