We had the good fortune of connecting with Thea & David DuBose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thea & David, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Hands down I feel that when David quit his job in the logistics industry and came in as the studio manager our whole business changed for the better! He brought something to the table that was lacking before. His background in sales made it a seamless transition. As you can imagine it’s very hard to be a one person show and not get burned out or even just find the time to respond to emails, texts, voicemails and schedule new sessions. Let’s just say I very much needed the help and after his first full year, our business grew 100%. Another added bonus is what working together has done for our marriage. We tell people almost daily that working together has strengthened our relationship. Like any marriage, we have had some struggles, but learning to work together taught us both to be more patient with one another. He’s my best friend and the studio wouldn’t run smoothly without him.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

We are North Georgia’s favorite photography studio duo!  We specialize in newborn, family, children, seniors and professional headshots. Located in the Regions Building in Gainesville, GA. Thea’s work has been featured in People Magazine, Women’s Day Magazine, The Gainesville Times, and Popsugar.com. We have a wide variety of themed limited edition sessions throughout the year. If you call into the studio, the first voice you will hear is David’s south Georgia accent and good ole southern charm. David has been full time at NPP since 2016 after working in the logistics industry for 16 years.

Was it easy to get to this point? Umm, NO! But nothing in life worth having is ever easy. In February of 2009, I was fired from my job at a commercial construction company, and let me tell you, it was the biggest blessing. That shove was exactly what I needed to take the risk and start NPP full time. I would’ve never quit that job on my own. I made decent money, it didn’t make sense for me to leave a steady paycheck. It’s funny to look back now and see all the pieces of the puzzle fit together.

There were so many lessons learned along the way. One of the biggest lessons is learning to always having faith. We never know month to month how many sessions we will have, so FAITH is what gets us through. God put David and I in this spot for a reason. We get to talk to so many wonderful new parents every day. Somedays we teach them something but most days when people leave their sessions with us, David and I always have learned something from our sweet clients. Whether it be a new vacation spot or how to become a super host on Airbnb, the relationships that we make are the most important to us.

When you have a family session, those images become heirlooms. A moment in time captured. We age each and every day. Photographs are the only thing we are left with as time passes us by.

Finish up with a photo session at Providence Canyon State Park
