We had the good fortune of connecting with Teqouya Tann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Teqouya, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lessons my business has taught me so far is to keep striving and believing in myself , take risks and create a strategy to learn from past business mistakes.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is my heart. I started Couture Crowns in college (2012) under the name A Stitched Perfection. I became a hairstylist and the success seem as if it came over night. I remember being in my college apartment praying to God that I find my passion or my talent. I knew I could not sing , dance , nor was I an athlete. However , I had to be more than just a smart kid I really wanted to be known for something great. I got my first social media moment when I styled a close friend hair and posted it. From that point many ppl started reaching out to me to style their hair. I instantly gained many clients in my college area and it then expanded to my hometown, long distance areas , and the other surrounding areas. One of the things that set me apart was that I was affordable , I traveled and I had the hair on hand. Virgin hair extensions were fairly new in our town and I was one of the first individuals to introduce them and it instantly was a hit. One of the biggest mistakes I feel as if I made looking back is that I had no business strategy. I didn’t know much about sustaining a business and I pretty much spent money as I made it ,more so treating my talent like a hobby. I also moved to a bigger city in 2016 and basically gave up on my loyal clients while struggling to find new clients. I stopped the hair business in 2018 and picked the ball back up in 2022. Couture Crowns Beauty Studio now a new success story carries the blueprint of A Stitched Perfection and I feel as if I’m doing everything the right way this time around. Couture Crowns Beauty Studio is one of the best beauty studios in Georgia, we offer Luxury Haircare, Skincare, Cosmetics, Fashion ,& more . I am also a traveling hairstylist and I love to give others a taste of the Couture Culture.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give credit to my children because they helped me find the motivation to get back to my passion.
