We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have been creating brands since I was a child selling lemonade and popcorn out of my front yard. Both of my degrees are in business, because I always knew I wanted to spend my life creating.
Having spent years in marketing and public relations in New York City, I saw firsthand how powerful well-executed events could be in connecting people, fostering learning, and creating memorable experiences. That experience, coupled with my personal passion for community-building, inspired me to create something that brought that same level of creativity and engagement to Atlanta.
When I moved to Atlanta, I wanted to offer experiences that went beyond entertainment — events that were interactive, hands-on, and had an element of learning. That’s why we focus on workshops like candle-making, flower arranging, and even caviar-tasting — activities that not only engage participants but also leave them with new skills or knowledge.
I am also deeply motivated by the idea of fostering connection. In a world where so much of our interaction is digital, I want to create something that brings people together face-to-face in a meaningful way. At the heart of Eventful ATL’s mission is creating lasting memories through engaging, educational experiences, and for me, it was essential to build a brand that reflected those values.
I’m also a firm believer in giving back to the community that supports us, and fostering opportunities for youth. That’s why, after our first year of success, we launched a collection of S.T.E.A.M.-focused workshops for students. I want to take our mission into schools to help inspire the next generation of creators and thinkers. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how we’ve been able to merge entertainment with education and have a positive impact on the community!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Eventful is all about creating unique, hands-on experiences that blend fun with learning. Our focus is on interactive workshops like candle-making, flower arranging, caviar-tasting, and more recently, our S.T.E.A.M.-focused workshops for students. What sets us apart is our emphasis on fostering connection and learning in a way that feels approachable and enjoyable. Every event is designed to leave participants with more than just a fun memory — they leave with new skills, knowledge, and a sense of community.
What I’m most proud of is how we’ve built a brand that not only hosts memorable events but also makes an impact. My favorite part of each event is hearing what brought everyone in to participate. Just last weekend a guy ran back into the room after the event ended to tell us that he was on a first date and that they were having such a good time thanks to us! It is the little moments like this that drive our passion for what we do.
I’m especially excited about our recent expansion into educational programming for schools with the S.T.E.A.M. workshops. It’s been rewarding to see students engage with topics like science, technology, and the arts in a hands-on, creative way.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the power of collaboration. Surrounding myself with talented and passionate people like Morgan and Sydney makes us not only better, but it makes the work feel like play. Their input and expertise have helped shape Eventful ATL into the thriving business it is today. When they say it takes a village – it’s very true. You have to surround yourself with a group of diverse, intelligent, and motivated people. If anyone ever told you they did it alone, they are lying. We are all connected in this world and we need each other.
Like any business, we’ve faced challenges along the way. One of the biggest hurdles was building brand recognition in a competitive market. There are so many event brands out there, so we had to carve out our own niche by really focusing on what we do best — curating educational yet enjoyable experiences that create lasting memories. We overcame this by consistently delivering high-quality events and building strong relationships with our attendees, which has led to organic growth through word-of-mouth. Of course, we learn how to improve our service more and more after every event. We have come a long way since our first event, but we don’t take feedback lightly. By no means are a household name yet, but keep an eye out for some big things from our team in the upcoming year!
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about Eventful ATL, it’s that we are more than just an events brand — we’re about creating meaningful connections and fostering a love for learning. Whether you’re coming to a candle-making workshop or attending one of our S.T.E.A.M. sessions in a school, our goal is to leave you feeling inspired, educated, and connected to the people around you. That’s the heart of our mission, and it’s what drives everything we do.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I moved down to Cabbagetown earlier this year and I discovered that I absolutely love the East Atlanta area. One of my favorite spots to grab a cocktail after work is at 97 Estoria. It is a short walk from my apartment and it is a very relaxed environment with outdoor seating so I can bring the dog. If I am looking for a more elevated evening, I always head over to El Malo in Reynoldstown. Their mezcal and tequila cocktails are incredible!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people and influences that have played a significant role in both my personal success, but especially that of the growth of Eventful ATL, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received along the way.
There are two women who have been instrumental in the growth of the brand – Morgan Prime and Sydney Royer. These two women have been the backbone of Eventful ATL from the very beginning. Both of them have brought their own individual passions and skills to the Eventful that have been vital to our growth. They’ve both been my sounding boards, collaborators, and friends through every high and low of this journey, and I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without either of them.
I also want to shout out my family and friends, whose unwavering love and encouragement have kept me going. Whether it was giving me a push when I needed it or simply showing up to our events, their support has been essential in helping me stay focused and driven. I remember our very first event here in Atlanta, my friends Brenna and Sarah flew in from different parts of the country to support what we were doing. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible network of people around me, and this remains true throughout the entirety of my life.
