We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Doehrman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
At Taylor Dawn, we believe that the most important factor behind the success of our brand is really just loving people well. The main goal of Taylor Dawn is to create an environment and support system for brides well before and on their wedding day. We want to serve them and let them know that they are special and loved. This environment of trust on wedding day creates a time that brides can truly depend on us to take care of anything and everything and they get to relax and enjoy their most important day. I love the quote by Maya Angelo that says, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This is something we strive to bring to fruition here at Taylor Dawn.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Taylor Dawn specializes in wedding planning with personal and thoughtful connection. From budget and logistics to custom design and vendor connection, our mission is to create a genuinely personal experience for our couples and their loved ones. What sets us apart as a wedding planning company in Atlanta is that we strive to create closer relationships with fewer clients every year in order to truly connect with, and know, each bride. Almost every bride works with me directly, and that allows me to get to know them and how best to serve them through the planning process. Getting to where I am today in business was absolutely not easy, and I think anyone who says they had an easy ride definitely has a ways to go. Owning and operating a business comes with the opportunity to constantly be learning, changing, and growing. There is always something new to learn, something always to be improved upon. But, that’s also the fun part! There’s always something you can be doing to elevate your brand, or love your people better. One lesson that I’ve learned multiple times is that you cannot always make everyone happy. You have to learn how to say no, so that you can say yes to things and people that matter most to you. Everyone is always going to have an opinion on your business/brand, and you have to rest in the confidence that you know yourself better than anyone. I am a big fan of leaning into older and wiser council, but as a business owner, you are the one making the final decisions. Have confidence in that!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although most of my weddings are in Atlanta, my husband and I have the unique opportunity of living in Athens, GA, the same city that houses our alma mater, The University of Georgia. We absolutely love having people visit and getting to show them around a town we love so much. After spending our college days here, and now our adult life, as well, I have quite the itinerary to share! First is the food and brewery scene in Athens. Spending the day here, you would absolutely have to check out South Kitchen for brunch, followed by spending the afternoon wandering the streets of downtown. For lunch, we would hit my absolute favorite pizza in the city, Ted’s. A gorgeous sunny afternoon would be spent on the lawn at Terrapin Brewery with your favorite people listening to live music and throwing some corn hole. The evening would have to conclude with dinner at Trapeze (sweet potato fries, yes, please!) and dessert with wine at the famous Last Resort Grill. Finally, you cannot go to Athens without a trip around the beautiful campus. Spend a few minutes laying in the grass on North Campus, take a stroll by Sanford Stadium, and, of course, ringing the chapel bell.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to Molly of Molly McKinley Designs. Molly took a chance on me when I was a young college student and really taught me all that I know. She dedicated time and effort to making sure I knew how to serve brides, as well as run a successful business. Molly is an ultimate girl boss, and I really wouldn’t be where I am in my business today without her support from the very beginning.
