We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasheika Bowen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasheika, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by the Word of God. There are days when I need encouragement or words to affirm how special I am. When I read the Bible it breathes life into me. There are so many stories with people who have flaws, but God still used them for His plan. The talents, gifts and purpose that He has given me, along with His instructions, inspire me to lift up others.

I am also inspired by my family. They constantly cheer me on and push me to do the best that I can. Sometimes they believe in me more than I believe in myself.

Finally, I am inspired by women who prove that there are no limits to what we can accomplish. I love seeing women of all ages set and reach their goals. I am inspired by their journeys and motivated by the obstacles that some have overcome to succeed.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Poshmark Ambassador, Poet, Artist, Author, Influencer and Marketing Coordinator are just some of the words that describe my work. I have a full-time job, but I also make time for other things that I am passionate about. Juggling so many tasks, is something that is not easy, but it is fulfilling. The challenge is finding time to get everything done and done right. When I was younger, I watched the movie “Boomerang.” It was then that I desired a career in Marketing. I am blessed with this career and although I love what I do, I have many other interests.

Fashion is my passion! I love clothes, shoes and saving money. Becoming a Poshmark reseller, allows me to sell clothes that I no longer use. It is also a great tool to buy items and pass great deals along to someone else.

I am a creative! I write poems to express my feelings and have also written two books. During this pandemic, I had to find additional ways to relax my mind, so I started drawing and painting. I truly believe that if God gives you a gift or a talent, then you should use it.

Finally, I am an influencer. As I grow older, I am beginning to face more challenges. I am realizing that women my age may sometimes be overlooked in many areas. My goal is to show women that we are beautiful, bold and phenomenal. We can create our space at any age! I am using my Instagram platform to promote products that I love for their performance, as well as their message. That’s why I was so excited for the recent opportunity to work with Ellie Cosmetics and Womaness. Not only do I share content on Instagram, but I also have a YouTube Channel, with interesting topics and important tips that can benefit anyone. My life experiences and being an influencer has made me more confident. I am not ashamed of who I am. I want other midlife women to embrace who they are and to enjoy each stage of the journey that God has given them.

I have learned a lot along the way, but one of the things that I am certain of now is that “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14) In fact, we all are! I want the world to know through my brand and story, that there are no obstacles that God can’t bring us through, and that with His help, anything is possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my new favorite spots is the Avalon in Alpharetta. There is a lot that you can do there. If I had friends visit the area, we would definitely make reservations at The Hotel at Avalon. I love this hotel and the location! We would eat at the hotel, because the food is very tasty or we could walk to nearby restaurants in the area. They have Marlow’s Tavern, Ted’s Montana Grill, Cafe Intermezzo, and many more. I’m hungry just thinking about it!

On one of the days we would go shopping, of course. There are many boutiques and retail shops that are in walking distance. The next day would be a spa day at the Woodhouse Day Spa and we could get our nails done at Parisian Nails. During our visit, there would be time to relax and lounge at the pool back at the hotel. If we wanted to be good, we could work out at the fitness center. The Avalon has a list of events, filled with exciting things to do, so we would definitely stay busy.

From Whole Foods Market, to a book store, to a candy factory, to Chanel…I have to admit that Avalon truly is “a perfect destination to sip, shop and stroll.”

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my grandmother, Lorraine “Bit” Buchanan. The love, support and encouragement that she gave to me and to others will never be matched. She was selfless and caring. She motivated me even in her passing. Trying to get through the pain of losing her prompted me to write poetry, which turned into my first book, “Lord, Why Did You Choose Me?” She had a tremendous impact on how I came to be the woman that I am today.

My husband (William), my daughters (Imani & Jahne’), my mom (Vanessa Bellinger) & and my grandfather (Ulysses Buchanan) also deserve credit for the love, support and encouragement that they have shown me consistently through my life.

There are other family members and friends that have also been instrumental to me in many ways and they know who they are.
