We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasharae Nicholson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasharae, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Honesty and transparency- I think these go hand in hand.

All my life, I have constantly heard that “honesty is the best policy.” So far, I have come to the realization that it doesn’t always get you what you want or where you want to go BUT, life is most freeing when you don’t have to walk around with the burden of a lie that can actually catch up with you in the long run.

Honesty and transparency builds trust, I value this whole combination greatly. I have the courage to be honest and receive honesty without flaking because of how I was brought up.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an Early Childhood Practitioner by profession. However, I am currently operating as a Creative where I provide professional services to fellow authors and aspiring authors.

What sets me apart is how self-aware I am, this helps me to navigate with much insight; I have a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt in various situations – once a concern or a situation arise I automatically switch to problem solving mode.
I am proud of the fact that I have touched atleast one life in the way that Mrs. Tugwell touched mine as she was my first inspiration towards the teaching profession. Also, the commendation I receive as a Service Provider – my clients often express how greatly helped they are, especially since I supply them with valuable information and not just the services they require.
Although my dream was to become an Early Childhood Educator, I did not begin there. Due to poor performances at the secondary level that dream went crashing fast. However, I took a job in a department store and while doing that I was invited to take part in an ICT project. It was at the end of that project that I realized my passion did not really die and so, I pursued it at a lower level and moved on to living the dream. My dream was satisfying but it demanded more of me, when my encounters with the little ones (my students) gave insight to how they are affected by the experiences in their formative years. It seemed like a heavy load for them.
I found myself on a journey that took me away from my hometown (Montego Bay, Jamaica) and led me to Kingston, Jamaica where I became an Author. I made this accomplishment while I was practically financially depleted (very little money but with much reading and researching, complimented by my artistic skillset). I eventually began doing services exchange along the way and I came to realize how multifaceted I really am.
I got to where I am today through many trials, I would not say it was easy. Interestingly enough, I kept getting atleast 1-2 business ideas every year for approximately the last 5 years. Ever since I became an Author and tested my creative skills with others they became refined to the point where I now operate my own business (TiltShift Global Services) for publishing services and I partner with others along the way.
I also operate Shine Through Shame Movement where I offer coach, speaking and empowerment services.
There is a Word of prophecy over my life that gives me hope everytime I felt like giving up. Nothing in this life is ever easy or smooth sailing but there are numerous and significant lessons along the way.
I continue to overcome by constantly praying, asking questions and making assessments especially in times when things went contrary to the plans in place.
I have learnt that:
1. You have to Keep It Moving (K.I.M).
2. Make a plan – outline it.
3. Ask others for help.
4. One “No” is not the end, keep searching for your YES!
5. We all need community.
6. No matter what, Keep It Moving. Don’t give up!
My story and brand exists to offer hope and empowerment. This I do in the true style of transparency which allows my audience/customers feel like they are and actually become a part of my story. It is inclusive in such a way that it captivates them but also helps them to identify similar challenges in life which they too can overcome. I was able to rise from my ONE subject that I left the secondary level with to now being an Educator, Author, Speaker, a Christian Life & Empowerment Coach as well as running my own business.
I’d love for this audience to know that, the odds maybe stacked against you but you can overcome.  I have the capacity to empower you if you are willing to be helped and desire a better story than the one you have experienced or have been told. Whereby you can move from shame to shine and live more confidently while impacting your communities with your stories.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
O wow! There are so many, this could be such a long tail (pun intended) lol…

First and foremost, I must acknowledge God as head of my life.

Shoutout to:
My Coach Crystal Daye and the warm community she provides. Also, coach C. Ruth Taylor – both women have contributed to my journey as an author and allowed me to test and develop my creative skills.

Mrs. Nada Tugwell, Ms. Noreen Hines, Ms. Kerry-Ann Mellis and Mrs. Joan Samuels-Porter – these women were instrumental in my formative years and uncertain times (they were my teachers and friends). Also, Mrs. Kerie-Ann “Kiki” Thombs for sharing in my journey.

My mentor Ambassador Natassia Wright, easing me through the stages of leadership development. My friends, Rev. Kurt Bowen & his wife, Denesha Bowen, always bought into my visions and supported me in many ways.

My parents Dionetta and Dunstan, to my siblings Dunstan Jr and Sujae who have also been my friends

To all my readers…

And finally, a book I will always refer to “Thinking for a Change” by John C. Maxwell – this book shifted my perspective time and again.
