Meet Taryn Rice | Spin Instructor & CEO of Spinsation, LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Taryn Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taryn, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For a long time, the idea of taking risks felt like stepping into the unknown without a safety net. I equated risk with fear—fear of failure, fear of instability, fear of letting down the two children who depended on me. As a single mother for 17 years, I operated in constant survival mode, determined to provide for my family. My career in education—first as a teacher and later as a school administrator—gave me a steady paycheck, which brought comfort, but it was never truly enough.
With each promotion came more responsibility, longer hours, higher stress, and less time with my children. My physical health began to decline, and when I could no longer rely on fitness as my outlet, my mental health followed. It was in that storm that I heard God’s voice most clearly. He was telling me it was time to stop moving in fear and start walking in purpose.
I’ve come to believe that when God places entrepreneurship in your heart, it’s not just a business venture—it’s a divine assignment. It’s a call to use your gifts to serve others, align your work with biblical principles, and trust in God to guide and provide. It requires stepping out of your comfort zone and into the uncertainty, but with faith comes peace.
Spinsation, LLC had been in my heart for years. But the weight of my job, the demands of survival, and the fear of not having “enough” always held me back. After deep prayer and reflection, I chose to fully trust Him. I made the boldest decision of my life: I resigned from my salaried position and stepped into entrepreneurship.
I did it not just for me, but for my children—to show them what faith looks like in action, and to live the life God called me to live.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My Journey: From Stress Relief to Spinsation, LLC
Helping and impacting others has always been a passion of mine. I remember how much stress I was able to release just by going to a spin class. And the feeling of accomplishment after losing 55 pounds through consistent attendance was indescribable. Spin became more than just a workout—it became my outlet, my motivation, my transformation.
That deep, personal experience is what inspired the founding of Spinsation, LLC. I wanted to give others the same stress relief, confidence, and sense of achievement that spin gave me. I knew firsthand how hard it can be to stay motivated and commit to a fitness routine. I always had the desire to be physically fit, but it wasn’t until I found the right class—one that pulled me in and made me want to come back—that my fitness journey truly began.
As a spin instructor, hearing my clients tell me how much my class motivates them, how they’ve started losing weight, or how it “feels like a vibe,” because of the hip hop club like atmosphere I create has been the biggest reward. When people say they feel like they’re part of a family in my classes, it pushes me even harder to spread my style and brand. I’ve come to realize that what I’m doing is more than fitness—it’s a ministry. And I want to use it to impact as many lives as I can.
What Sets Spinsation Apart
While there are many spin studios across Atlanta, Spinsation is different. Instead of opening a traditional brick-and-mortar location, I chose to be mobile. I travel with my bikes to local gyms, businesses, residential communities, and private events. I also host small group spin classes right in my garage, attracting people from my neighborhood and surrounding areas.
In today’s world—where inflation is high and gym memberships are expensive—I’ve created a way for people to work out in a fun, affordable, and motivating environment. With minimal overhead and maximum energy, the Spinsation Experience brings high vibes, a family atmosphere, encouragement, and a full-on party on the bike.
My “Why” – My Children
What makes me most proud is the example I’m setting for my children. My ultimate goal is to grow Spinsation to a point where I can comfortably support my kids doing what I love. When I was working in a traditional career, even with the comfort of a consistent paycheck, I still struggled financially—and the stress was overwhelming.
My 17-year-old daughter, Layla, has watched me through every phase of this journey. While I shielded her from the full weight of my struggles, now that she’s older, she sees the dedication and grind it took to provide for our family. Seeing her embrace that same drive has been one of my greatest rewards.
In the early days of building my brand, I received an unexpected blessing: I became pregnant with my son, Kingston. Many people may have paused their goals, but I didn’t. I continued teaching spin classes up to 35 weeks pregnant. I gave birth at 37 weeks and was back on the bike just five weeks later. Today, Kingston is six years old and proudly shows off my garage spin studio to anyone who visits. His joy and curiosity about what I do fuel me daily.
Overcoming Fear & Finding Faith
Building this business hasn’t been easy. The hardest part was letting go of fear and fully believing in myself—trusting that God would order my steps. I knew going in that this industry could be competitive and even cutthroat. I also knew my success would rely heavily on the support of others.
One of the toughest lessons I’ve learned is that some of your biggest supporters will be strangers—and some people you thought were in your corner may reveal their true feelings when your light begins to shine. I’ve also learned the value of moving in silence, keeping plans close until they’re ready to bloom.
But every challenge has been a signal that something greater is ahead. The more I lean on God, the more I see that He continues to provide exactly what I need—right when I need it. That faith, that vision, and that drive to serve others are the foundation of Spinsation.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
With summer right around the corner and the weather heating up, there’s no better time to take advantage of Atlanta’s vibrant outdoor scene. If a good friend were visiting, we’d definitely dive into the city’s best adventures—starting with checking out local events like Wind Down Wednesdays, live concerts, Wine Fest, and more. There’s always something happening in Atlanta!
Since I tend to attract like-minded people, our days would be active and energizing. We’d kick things off with a morning hike at Sweetwater Creek State Park—a favorite spot for its peaceful trails and beautiful water views. We’d also get in a few high-energy spin classes throughout the week to stay on track with our fitness goals.
Of course, all that movement gives us full permission to indulge—and we would! Whether it’s lunch at La Parilla on Howell Mill or the flavorful bites at Freda’s in Fayetteville, you can’t go wrong with great Mexican food.
In the afternoons, we’d slide into happy hour at spots like Yard House at The Battery or Gypsy Kitchen in Buckhead—both known for good drinks, a lively crowd, and a chill, welcoming atmosphere. I’m all about places that offer a hassle-free entry, good energy, hip-hop/R&B vibes, and cocktails that hit just right.
For nightlife, there’s still so much of Atlanta left to explore. A rooftop lounge would be the perfect way to cap off the evening—taking in city views, catching a warm breeze, and letting the music set the tone for a summer night to remember.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I first discovered my passion for spin and decided I wanted to become a spin instructor, I sought out mentorship from the instructors whose classes I was attending. I remember first approaching a female instructor, hoping for guidance, but she quickly discouraged me—telling me it was too competitive of an industry for a woman. When I turned to one of my male instructors, I received no support or mentorship either.
That’s why I want to dedicate this shoutout to the one instructor who truly believed in me and helped shape me into the instructor I am today: Derry Stapleton. Derry is widely known as one of the GOATs in Atlanta’s spin community. I had heard of him because he trained several of the instructors I admired, but I hadn’t yet experienced his class for myself. When Derry reached out to me on social media and offered to train me, I was deeply honored.
What I love most about Derry is that he genuinely wants to see others succeed in this industry. He’s one of the few in the spin community who actively invests in grooming the next generation of instructors. Derry has not only been instrumental in developing my skills as an instructor but also played a vital role in helping me launch my own business. His mentorship has meant everything to me.
