Meet Sydney Davy | CEO of Taylor’d Media, Social Media Marketing Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Davy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydney, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Working for myself from home, even prior to the pandemic, gave me freedom in my schedule that I hadn’t ever had and it honestly wasn’t great for me in the beginning. I used to force myself to work when I felt like everyone else was working, yet, I’d take breaks that may have lasted 48 hours simply because I couldn’t figure out how to discipline myself properly for a “successful work week.” It was when I finally learned that giving my mind and body control over my work schedule was the healthy and more productive route for me. As a creative, it’s important that I work when my mind is feeling juiced up and ready to give me the good stuff. Just as important, I’ve learned that resting my mind and body when they clearly need it allows me to really perform at my best and produce the content my clients expect of me. My work weeks now mostly look like Monday – Friday, 9am to 3ish pm, but I’m now totally comfortable adjusting it as needed to stay healthy.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own Taylor’d Media, a social media marketing business where I offer support for women who feel discouraged and overwhelmed by social media implementation in their business. I help to clarify their messaging and amplify their passion, showing up on social media in a way that has their audience thinking, “she’s inside my head.” Throughout my journey as a business owner, I’ve learned that grace should be our preferred weapon of choice when dealing with difficult people/situations. If a circumstance arises where a mistake seems to have come up and may not look reversible or fixable, it’s a good idea to extend grace prior to assuming the world is ending at 5pm if this isn’t fixed. Technical difficulties happen, humans make mistakes, and we all have lives outside of our jobs that will inevitably interfere sometimes. So offering some grace to allow wiggle room for adjustments and cushion for mental health wellness can take us further than abrupt reactions.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I mostly hang out outside the city, in Marietta and Woodstock. We’d definitely get brunch at Good Kitchen + Market one morning then go find a nice spot in the Marietta Square to either enjoy the sunshine and people watch or chat over some coffee. Downtown Woodstock has been my main spot for several months now. Brunch at Freight then head for some day drinks at Reformation Brewery would make for an awesome day outside to enjoy the area. I’d definitely have to show them the cutest shops in town where I do most of my shopping, like Dare to be Different and Fashion Cupcake. If we decide not to shop our afternoon would be spent on the trail for a nice walk. If they’re in town on a weekday and we’d like to get some work done, I’d take them to my favorite co-working spot, The Innovation Spot where we’d have a great space to knock out some work.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success has been a result of an accumulation of support through various sources. First and foremost, Jesus has played the role of my biggest supporter. The conversations we’ve had together have led to new friendships and connections that have ultimately become my strongest support systems for different areas of my life. I’ve always been the type to have different groups of friends that all have special things about them that I love. The friends that God has brought into my life in the last year have been some of my biggest supporters in life and in business.
