We had the good fortune of connecting with Stone Payton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stone, what is the most important factor behind your success?
SERVING. We made the decision from Day One to be a Pro-Business, Earned Media platform.

We never charge Guests to join us On Air to share their story and promote their work. And on the client side of our work (where we do charge a subscription fee, and do make money), the product itself is a customized platform (media property) specifically designed to help our clients SERVE their clients in the same way . . . helping their key customers, best prospects, and most trusted market partners Get The Word Out about the great work they’re doing for their market, their community, and their profession.

We find that most Business Leaders really want to serve — and serve their entire ecosystem well beyond simply providing their particular product or service. And we’re so blessed at Business RadioX ® to have the systems, and the people who can help them do that.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We interview Business and Community Leaders — nothing even a little bit complicated about the work . . . but truly amazing is the impact even one interview can have.

Guests often tell us that sharing their story on the show helped them crystallize their own thinking, helped them get better at articulating What they were doing in the marketplace and Why.

Of course our listeners gain tremendous insight every time they tune in — sometimes on more general topics like marketing, leadership, etc., but many times on more specific issues like Cyber Security Tips for Small Business.

What Sets Us Apart ? — Two Things: 1. What We Do For Our Clients (Helping them SERVE and build relationships with the people who matter to them most) just Works. It Always Works. It Never Doesn’t Work. 2. We focus on delivering Actual Green Dollar ROI, not cosmetrics (cosmetic metrics).

The Journey & Lessons Learned: Sorry, no hard luck / rags to riches story here . . . I’ve had a fairy tale life — great parents, marvelous childhood, hired and fired from some of the most respected boutique consulting firms on the planet . . . and then found this guy (lee Kantor, now my business partner) helping people get the word out about their business. I jumped on his coat tails 15 years ago, and I’m not letting go !

As far as Lessons Learned, here are a few: Cut yourself some slack. Don’t worry so much about what other people think. Serve first. Take some action now, throw your hat over the fence — capture the data, and then make adjustments as needed. Keep suitin’ up and showin’ up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Woodstock: Reformation Brewery, Pie Bar, MAD Life, Prime 120, JDs By The Lake

Lake: Allatoona (Lanier is great too — I just love being on the water)

Atlanta: College Football Hall Of Fame, Ponce City Market, Georgia Aquarium, Civil Rights Museum, Carter Library . . . and of course The Varsity+

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our Guests . . . Every day (for almost 15 years now) we meet bright, passionate people who are out there doing incredible work — and they’ve given us VIP Passes into their world. Not only that, they’ve allowed us to let all our friends come back stage too !

Our Studio Partners . . . It’s a monumental effort to capture all these stories. We have a long way to go, and we’ll take all the help we can get. We know the only way we’re going to get there is through the combined effort of our BRX Ambassadors, Correspondents, and Studio Partners.

Our Clients . . . The Business Leaders who have trusted us to help them build meaningful relationships and genuinely SERVE the people who matter to them most. Too many to try to mention here, but one perfect example that comes to mind right now is Roz Lewis, President Greater Women’s Business Council.
