Meet Steven Williams: Certified Bug Assassin

We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted financial independence and that’s why I started my own business, Atlanta Outsourced Service Professionals. I have a strong customer service background from working in retail management, insurance underwriting and direct consumer sales. I believe in treating people in the way that I want to be treated. Altruism, putting others first before company’s revenue is my reason to start a business in the home service industry.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Atlanta Outsourced Service Professionals DBA: Atlanta Outsourced Pest Control is a full-serviced insured, licensed pest control service provider servicing Metro-Atlanta. I have been in the pest control industry for 16 years working as a sales consultant, technician and inspector. I worked for national, regional and local pest control companies. I wanted to provide value and excellent customer service for an affordable price. Some challenges were to over come mind-set of an employee to an owner. Getting started, there’s no perfect script nor business plan. I did some research and pick the brains of others that were already pest control operators. I was already part of several business networking groups. I rejoined under my own brand and continue to learn best practices from other business owners. I needed to be 100% all in my business and persevere through the challenges. The name Atlanta Outsourced, I came up with that knowing that I needed strategic partnerships with other pest control operators and contractors that I trust and vetted over the years to help with my growth. This allow me obtain customers without hiring permanent employees and use the contractors only as needed. I learned that you have to be open to suggestions and criticism without taking it personally and you need have a circle of people with positive energy and visible success stories.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This would be before Covid19. I enjoy old school R&B concerts- Charlie Wilson, Maze, New Edition, etc. I enjoy Chicago style pizza and refreshing adult beverages. I love to dance to party hits and house music. I am a competitive cardplayer of Bid Wiz and Spades. Café 290 is great spot for food and live entertainment. Nancy Pizzeria and Chicago Pizza & Sports Grill have great food and hang-out spots.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to foremost thank God for giving me favor, wisdom and the abilities to navigate obstacles in my life. My friend and mentor, Mr. Bill Brewer was my sales manager for a national pest control company in Georgia and I was a sales inspector. He left to start his own business as an independent pest control provider. I soon join him about a year later to assist him in sales and marketing. I observed his level of individual detail that he gave each customer in communication and providing practical solutions. He often stated that I need to start my own pest company and would enjoy the rewards that come with it.
