We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Sackey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephen, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was originally born in Nigeria to Ghanaian parents and spent my early years in Ghana. Growing up in Ghana, i lost my mother at a very young age and was raised by my single father for a while. My dad taught me to always see the positivity in every and any situation. This has stuck with me as I have gotten older and has helped me overcome multiple challenges in life, most recently passing the Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) exams.

What should our readers know about your business?
I run an accounting practice that helps individuals and small businesses with their taxes and provide them with financial insights to achieve their goals. I take a proactive approach where I partner with my clients. We work closely together to achieve maximum success and that sets me apart from my peers. I am always proud when my client is completely satisfied with my level of service.

I would not say I am where I need to be business-wise, but I have certainly come along way. I took a non traditional path to get here. Upon graduation with my bachelors of science in accounting, I took on a sales and service roles with the intent to develop my soft skills. I knew in order to run a successful business I needed to be able to sell my value and provide great customer service. After some time in the sales and service industry, I returned to school to get my masters in business administration. I then transitioned into a more traditional accounting roles upon graduation. After some few years, I earned my Certified Public Accountant license and began to serve the public through Sackey Financials LLC, my accounting practice.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week long, we would check out the Porsche experience, get some exercise by playing some soccer, eat at a few restaurants of my friend’s choice. I would ask if there is anything or places he would like to visit or do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
