We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Mathurin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
To me, Success is a relative term. People define It differently for what they ultimately would like to achieve, wealth, stability, etc. I’ve come to find that for one, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.”, Albert Schweitzer said that. I think this quote beautifully expresses that success is simply the joy related to accomplishing the things you set out to do. Unfortunately, success is not a permanent or constant state. Winston Churchill once said, “Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” In the end, enduring through the “lows” builds an appreciation for the more promising “highs”. That is the ultimate success.
Can you open up a bit about your work and careerWe’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
A little shy of two years ago I officially solidified my Brunch Brand but this was an idea I had from the moment I moved to Atlanta about 6 years! I am the proud creator of Brunchin with B.A.E LLC who’s mission is to encourage an audience of (B)old (A)nd (E)clectic creatives to use the brunching experience as a networking opportunity to build meaningful relationships with entrepreneurs and change makers like themselves. Many people are surprised to learn that the “B.A.E” in Brunchin with B.A.E is in fact an acronym which initially stood for (B)lack (A)spiring (E)ntrepreneurs. The specificities behind each letter have come to change based on how each person feels it relates to them. Perhaps you are (B)eautiful (A)nd (E)ducated or (B)allsy (A)nd (E)ccentric, the goal remains the same, to connect a community of people who are consistently (B)enefiting and (A)ttaining (E)ncouragement from each other.
Where do you feel your brand is most visible?
My brand is most visible on Instagram via @Brunchin_with_BAE. There, Breakfast lovers can swipe through pages and highlight reels of “food porn” from some of the most festive brunch locations I’ve visited in the nation. My page also began highlighting a B.A.E. each month that is making noteworthy strides in their niche. Via the link in my Bio you may find other interview features and of course my Shopify page to purchase your own Brunch Merch with new items dropping as early as next month, April 2021! Check us out!

What sets your brand apart from its competitors? Any future plans for the brand?
If I were to consider what sets me apart from my competition, I would share that I don’t believe one person’s success defines or hinders another. Just like there are many makeup companies and car brands, I love that there are so many people who like myself enjoy building meaningful content and have a social media platform to share their creations. To me, I see any other bloggers or brand ambassador as potential partners for building a conglomerate of experiences to our shared audience. In regards to future plans, I get tons of DMs from people looking to have their own #BrunchBAE experience. That is why I am working to develop my #BanginBrunchList , a digital brunching guide for all of my featured cities. In the future, I hope to help people schedule their own personal brunch outings via a stellar user-friendly Brunching App.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Luckily I have friends and family come to to visit all the time and I truly enjoy creating itineraries for their visit when they arrive! For week days, I would typically take a friend someplace touristy to be able to get a real cut experience. The World of Coca Cola (Coke Factory) is a great day outing to try the Cokes from around the world! Ponce City Market is always a win as their array of food choices will appease even the pickiest eaters. Of course after food, the roof top “Skyline Park” is a kid and adult playground fully equipped with skeeball, mini golf and a full service bar; definitely family friendly. The Battery, adjacent to the new Braves stadium, is another one stop shop for all forms of food and entertainment.
As a Brunch Experience Expert, Saturday and Sunday would be the highlight of the trip. Sunday brunch is an Atlanta staple and must be experienced before leaving the city. Unfortunately due to COVID a lot of really great restaurants were unable to remain in business with the lack of customer traffic. There are still some really great brunch eateries in the cities. If you’re looking for really hearty fill you up food, I’d suggest Thumps Up diner, Buckhead Bread Company or Highland Bakery, for ginormous plate fulls of delicious meals. For more of a party vibe with music and sometimes hookah, I head down to Peter St. and visit rapper 2Chainz restaurant Escobar Lounge or stroll the colored streets of Midtown to 10th and Piedmont! The good mood music and bottomless mimosas are a guaranteed party enhancement! When I want to tone down a notch and enjoy a more tranquil midday meal, my go-tos are Cafe Intermezzo on Peachtree for all day breakfast or First Watch for farm table fresh eats . Both feature flavorful dishes and exquisite eats. My brunch list is EXTENSIVE to say the least and I kept going this article would turn into a Novel. Needless to say If you were to tour the city with me, you are guaranteed to have a grand ole time! Plan on visiting Atlanta some time soon? feel free to Direct Message (DM) me on Instagram and I’ll be sure to reply back!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to ShoutOut my team, my support system, Team B.A.E. From the series of friends who have gone brunching with me, to those who have let me photograph their food while It got cold, and especially those who have purchased my merchandise. I’m thankful for my B.A.E.s being such beautifully (B)old (A)nd (E)clectic individuals who have found my content meaningful. I also can’t leave out the countless restaurants who have reposted my food pics and highlighted my page for their viewers in various cities throughout the Nation. It all means the world to me and I am ever so grateful!
