We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Dashing and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sophia, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve been performing, singing and dancing since I was six years old. Everyone knew me as the little girl who couldn’t stop singing and dancing! I would write songs and ask anybody and everybody if they wanted to hear them. I loved being on stage and in front of the camera. I started dancing at the Atlanta dance studios and soon got discovered in class and signed to Bloc South Talent Agency. I sang in local choirs as well and tried to emerge myself in my passions since I was super duper young. I’m very blessed and grateful to know what I wanted to pursue since a young age.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I absolutely love to make and write music. It’s what makes the most sense to me in this life as well as performing it and dancing. I’m so excited for 2022 and to see what the universe brings in for me next with expanding my career. I moved to Paris, France at the age of eighteen to pursue a love I had for the arts and fashion design. I was still writing music and dancing throughout that time, just hadn’t fully released or dedicated 100% of my time to it like I was when I was younger. Sometimes life takes you on a different path especially when you’re a teenager! When COVID-19 happened it sent me back to my hometown, Atlanta and the universe fully threw me back in the routes and avenues of my passions when I was younger: singing, songwriting and dancing. I decided to leave school for fashion and fully focus on what I’m doing now. It was the best decision of my life. I truly believe whatever you’re meant to do, God/The Universe will make sure you’re doing it! You’ll always come back to it no matter what. Doing what I love is enough to create an abundance of happiness throughout the rest of my life!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of my friends was coming to Atlanta that had never been, I would take them to Buttermilk Kitchen for brunch.. It’s the best! Marcel for dinner then maybe Tiki Tango for dancing and fun! Definitely the beltline to get out in nature, ride a scooter then stop at some of the amazing restaurants along the line/Ponce City Market! Mics Karoke is also super fun and I’ve had so many fun nights there singing with my friends! Lol!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My amazing mom! She has supported me with every single dream of mine without question. She motivates me to be the best version of myself and is always standing behind me cheering me on. I wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my mom. Love you mom!
