We had the good fortune of connecting with Sirena Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sirena, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since I was a kid, I’ve been interested in art and creating things. I loved to draw cool pictures I saw in books and magazines. I pursued an artistic career because it’s my passion and I’ve continued to grown and learn more about. Those around me saw the talent I had as a kid and really encouraged me to continue on that path.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There are so many talented artists, but we’re all unique in our own way. My art is honest and true to me. It’s how I see the world. Professionally, I think I have much further to go, but I’m continuing to be more confident in my abilities and be creative. I want the world to know that my brand is authentic, practical, and adaptable. I’m excited for the future of my career and where my art will take me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Sparetime. It’s a fun place that has pretty much everything from good food and fun games. Downtown Greenville has lots of nice shops and eating places. There’s always a comedy show or concert going on so that would be fun too. Aside from movies and bowling, there’s something for everyone. Drive around and explore all the city has to offer.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my cousin, Leighton McDonald, and others who have believed in me. Leighton really showed me that an art and design career is possible and fulfilling.
