We had the good fortune of connecting with Sinia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sinia, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because I wasn’t happy doing anything else. I’ve always loved writing and I’ve always had a desire to sing. Once the pandemic hit, I realized that it was time to step outside of my limiting beliefs and finally share my voice. I learned to concur my fear of singing and became even more confident in my writing. Making music helps me understand myself. It gives me the space to be free.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started writing when I was a little girl. It was a peaceful coping mechanism for me. I was super shy growing up so writing was always much easier than talking. I didn’t merge my love of writing with singing until 2020! I was always so timid when it came to singing. The pandemic is what made me realize that life is too short to not to try something that interested me, even if it scared the hell out of me.

When it comes to making music, it’s always a different process. Sometimes I freestyle, other times I write to a beat, and other times I pull out an old poem from my notes app and try to make harmonies with it. I’ve also been trying to learn guitar to help with my creative process.

In terms of where I draw inspiration, I try to only write about real life experiences. It’s much easier to perform songs that relate to my life. As for my genre, I would consider it to be a mix of alternative rnb, indie, and experimental!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My senior year poetry teacher was a huge pillar in my creative journey. His class was where I learned the importance of sharing my words, thoughts, and feelings with other people. I felt safe to do so because he fostered a welcoming environment for all of his students. This experience made me realize that my words mattered outside of my notebook.
