We had the good fortune of connecting with Sikhumbuzo Moyo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sikhumbuzo, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want to be remembered as the woman who came from a small town, in one of the poorest countries in the world with just a vision and hope. I want my story to inspire those that have lost hope and never imagined they could make it out of poverty
What should our readers know about your business?
I own two businesses Sk Luxury Auto and Crowns of Sheba.
Sk Luxury Auto is an auto broking business, that flips preowned vehicles that are in a mint condition. Our cars cost less than market value eliminating the need for a car note. We all can agree that a car note is an extensive debt with absurd interest fees. Therefore buying a car at a reasonable price is wiser.
On the other hand Crowns of Sheba is a luxury virgin hair collection, that exudes class and opulence. More women nowadays are making their mark in the Corparate and Entrepreneurial world and the least they have to worry about is constantly maintaining their hair. Our extensions have gone through extensive vetting to make sure our customers get the best quality on the market. With good care our hair can last up to 5 years. Saving women thousands of dollars they would have spent on extensions every two weeks. Once installed and styled its just brush and go.
We also pride our selves in creating job opportunities for women in less fortunate countries around the world. We are not only a business but a movement that empowers women to be the best in their respective fields. A portion of our proceeds are donated to woman aiding non profit organizations.
The toughest lesson I have had to learn is that a stranger will support your business more than your own tribe. As entrepreneurs we should stop taking it personal when our family and friends don’t support us as much as we anticipate. Instead we have to keep marketing and networking.
I would be fibbing if I said it was easy to get this far. I still believe I have a lot of work to do but I am happy with my progress. I wouldn’t have done it with out God. He has been my pillar of strength throughout my journey. I am so excited to see what the future has to unfold.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not very much of an out going person but the few spots I enjoy are the Waldorf Astoria restaurant and spa, C & S seafood and oyster bar and Blue Martini
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my grandmother Khethiwe Makwelo. Even though she has ascended to the Lord, she is the reason I am the women I am today. From a young age she new I was going to be something great in life. She always supported me in every endeavor I pursued. Funny enough she always thought I was the best in everything while in reality I average. Till date I still believe I have a lot of work to do to live up to the future me she saw in me.
