We had the good fortune of connecting with Sianey Paige W. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sianey Paige, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
I think about where I am at in life and how far I’ve come and it always leads me to ask myself. “what’s the point?” I had to seriously sit down and think about why I stopped side hustling and committed to my business and then it hit me. As young as age 10, I knew I wanted to be my own boss albeit I always thought I would be a fashion designer but I knew from a young age that I was creative and creativity is my nature. It wasn’t until I was older that I understood that my passion and my mission are not one and the same. My mission is to create an inclusive workplace where BIPOC culture is rooted at the foundation of my business. I have struggled with how to marry my passion for creativity with the urgency of needing to be understood in the workplace and then I realized that everything I want is possible if I eventually grow into a full black-owned PR firm. As someone who is a digital creator and has dealt with her share of workplace micro-aggression, I pray that one day I can work with black and brown creators to give them the platforms and awareness they deserve since it is usually BIPOCs starting trends on social media. More importantly, I want my team to feel at home. I hope that when I get my dream office I can hang a sign that says “cancel code-switching” because I am that serious about building a business that values its BIPOC team members.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Like many, it all started as a side hustle to make some extra cash while I was working my 9-5 in a dentist’s office. It was my dream to be an Orthodontist and have D.D.S. behind my name and what I discovered was, that was not my path. My true purpose was to use my creativity to help others and by starting my business, I became Sianey Paige, S.M.M. ( Social media manager ). I became a woman who empowers people to authentically show up online as themselves and use their stories and experiences to build communities on social media. I never thought this skill would lead me to work with women-owned businesses, congressional candidates, well-known brands in pop culture, and even other beauty queens and I am so grateful. I am curious where my digital skills will take me next maybe movie sets or larger-scale media but for now, I love what I do! In the past, I felt that I’ve had to shut off the qualities that aren’t masculine enough or emulate my male counterparts in order to succeed in work and now I can say no more and put my femininity at the forefront of my business, which is exciting! I think that’s why I attract a majority of women clientele like my fellow pageant queens and women entrepreneurs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Funny you should ask because I am constantly getting asked for my favorite recommendations and hot picks for date night, MUA’s, brunch spots, clubs etc. Atlanta truly has my heart. Any time someone visits, I always want to make sure I am able to share a piece of my city that keeps them coming back. I usually would start the week off by going to the store and crafting a homemade charcuterie board and chill by the pool of my condo, I would venture out to the battery Atlanta for a Braves game and cap the night with a glass of wine at Cru Wine Bar. My friends typically love views and vibes so I would absolutely have to take my friends to the Garden Room for cocktails and content because the vibes are *chefs kiss. I’m a romantic at heart and girly when I want to be so would have to claim tickets to see the Edgewood String Quartet. If you’ve never experienced their candlelight performance, you need to run don’t walk to the next show! Although it’s frowned upon, it wouldn’t be an Atlanta experience without a little racing so I would go down to the Porche experience for a fun time. Heading into the weekend brunch at Atlanta breakfast club is non-negotiable, the Peach Cobbler French toast is a must! After Brunch, I would take them to the best day party in the city known as Mimosa Jam hosted by some good friends of mine Ayinde and Condo. Knowing my friends they would appreciate ending the weekend at the rooftop lounge, LOA for some relaxation and good drinks, and sealing the trip with pictures at the Jackson Street Bridge so we can always look back and talk about things I can’t begin to mention in this interview. Atlanta has such a rich culture and ultimately that is what I would love to share with anyone who comes to visit. I love that you asked this because I have been keeping something under wraps for a while now. I will be launching my “Hit List” which will be my personal catalog of recommendations for outings, service providers, and experiences in Atlanta and even exploring Georgia.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have got to thank my friend and photographer RJ, for allowing me to run ideas and creative concepts by him but also being the friend in business whose response is “when and where”. A special Thank you to my mentor Cynthia Pong of Embrace Change NYC and my coach Malla Haridat for allowing me to own being a black woman in business and helping me build a foundation that embraces black culture in its roots. To all the incredible women in Malla’s cohort thank you for giving me advice every week that motivates me. I have to thank all my friends from Howard who call me to say they are proud of me and help me reclaim focus when I start steering away from my goals. I want to say thank you to all the social Media Managers out there who know what it takes to master this job but also provide grace to those just starting out because we’ve all been there. Lastly, thank you to my family for supporting me while I see this through. I love you!
