Hi Shari, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is a fundamental aspect of entrepreneurship, and it plays a critical role in the success of a business. As an entrepreneur, taking calculated risks is an essential part of identifying and pursuing new opportunities, staying ahead of the competition, and growing your business.

Successful entrepreneurs understand that taking risks is not about blindly jumping into a new venture without any consideration for the potential consequences. Rather, it is about carefully weighing the pros and cons of a particular decision, assessing the potential risks and rewards, and making informed choices based on the best available information.

In fact, many of the most successful entrepreneurs are skilled at managing risk, and they use a variety of tools and strategies to minimize their exposure and maximize their chances of success. This might include conducting market research, developing a strong business plan, building a diverse and talented team, and seeking out strategic partnerships and collaborations. This is why I took the time to study marketing in college, and why I prioritize networking.

At the same time, it is also important to recognize that not all risks are created equal, and that some risks may pose greater challenges than others. Successful entrepreneurs are able to distinguish between high-risk, high-reward opportunities and those that are simply too risky to pursue.

Ultimately, the ability to manage risk effectively is a key factor in my success as an entrepreneur. By carefully weighing the potential risks and rewards of each decision, and by developing a strong understanding of the market and the competitive landscape, entrepreneurs like myself can be in position for success and achieve our business goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a professional traveling makeup artist, I am truly passionate about what I do. I love helping my clients look and feel their best, whether it’s for a special event or just for everyday life. Of course, like any makeup artist, I have faced my fair share of challenges along the way. But I have learned that perseverance and dedication are key to success in this industry.

One of the biggest obstacles I have overcome is the competition in the field. There are so many talented makeup artists out there, and it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd. However, I have learned that by providing exceptional service and creating a personalized experience for each client, I can build a loyal following and grow my business.

Another challenge that I have faced is the logistics of being a traveling makeup artist. It can be tough to coordinate schedules, transport all of my equipment, and ensure that I am always prepared for any situation. But I have learned to be organized, adaptable, and always ready to go above and beyond for my clients.

Despite these challenges, I have never given up on my dream of being a successful makeup artist. And now, I am proud to say that I have repeat clients who trust me to help them look and feel their best, as well as a thriving beauty brand that continues to grow. I am so grateful for the opportunity to do what I love every day, and I am excited to see where my passion for makeup will take me next.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had to give a tourist an itinerary to enjoy the scenic Atlanta, and all of the food that it has to offer, it would go as follows:

Morning:
– Start the day with a delicious breakfast at The Gathering Spot, a members-only co-working and social club that serves up amazing food. Non-members can also enjoy the restaurant for breakfast by booking a table in advance.
– After breakfast, head over to the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail for a scenic walk. This urban trail features beautiful street art, murals, and sculptures that are perfect for Instagram-worthy photos.

Afternoon:
– For lunch, head to Sweet Auburn Curb Market, a historic indoor market that has been serving up delicious food since 1924. Here, you can enjoy a wide range of cuisine from different vendors, including soul food, Caribbean, and Vietnamese.
– After lunch, explore the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, which includes the birth home of the civil rights leader, Ebenezer Baptist Church, and the King Center. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the legacy of Dr. King and the civil rights movement.

Evening:
– For dinner, head to Paschal’s Restaurant, an iconic restaurant that has been serving up Southern soul food since 1947. This restaurant was a hub for civil rights activists during the 1960s, and has hosted many famous figures, including Dr. King and President Obama.
– After dinner, head to the SkyLounge at the Glenn Hotel for drinks and a stunning view of the Atlanta skyline. This rooftop bar has a chic and sophisticated ambience, and is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the city lights.

Furthermore, I really enjoy the ambience and food at Divan Restaurant and Bar, Gypsy Kitchen rooftop restaurant and bar, South City Kitchen, Pappadeaux Louisiana Bistreaux, Another Broken Egg, and Ponce City Market.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My church Dream Center Church of Atlanta, has had a huge positive impact on my entrepreneurial journey. The support and guidance of a community can be a powerful force in helping entrepreneurs achieve their goals and overcome the many challenges that come with starting and growing a business.

For example, my church community has supported entrepreneurs, including myself by providing mentorship and guidance, offering networking opportunities, and creating a supportive environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and collaboration.

My church has also provided me with access to a network of fellow entrepreneurs and business owners who has offered advice and support as I navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship. Additionally, my church community has helped me and many others to develop key skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and philanthropy which are essential for success in business.

Furthermore, being part of a community that shares my values and vision is a powerful motivator, helping me to stay focused and committed even when faced with setbacks or obstacles. Dream Center church of Atlanta has have provided me with a sense of purpose and inspiration, helping me to stay connected to my mission and stay motivated to achieve my goals.
