Hi Shaquna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
You’re not living unless you have work-life Balance. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit since a young girl but when I Turned age 14 I began working in the work field in various industries such as hospitality and a born Gift of hairstyling.. so much so I became a salon owner in year 2011
Started multiple businesses from then until now including Hair Extensions, Home Decor and Home staging , Hospitality staffing services, and Tax services since 2015.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Maine Tax Co.LLC , the year of 2015
In honor of my late mother Germaine “Maine” Stokes. Who also was a successful Tax professional. Prior to starting the Tax business I was a hairstylist with my own salon , I never thought I would have a change of heart in careers, surprisingly I did ,
After my mother passed away due to a tragic car accident, I went to collect her belongings from my late Great Grandmothers home Marie Pendarvis may she Rest in Peace , who also is a major part of the woman I am today . As I began to collect her belonging I came across her laptop , The same Laptop that she also worked on as a Tax Professional. Let’s just say it’s been history in making ever since , a year later I started my own Tax Firm Maine Tax Co LLC. My first year I serviced 29 clients every year that client number Grew within 3 years I had 153 clients all in which I handled alone ! Fast forward till Today my clientele has been consistent and consistently Growing larger! It has been very successful, as well as allowing me the work-life balance I’ve always worked towards . It’s never easy being an entrepreneur but the key is to keep on going , which is exactly what I continue to Do ! I’ve serviced clients in 17 different states across US. Till this day I still work on my mother’s Laptop as it feels to be my blessings charm . Treat your business the way you do when you work for someone else (with work ethic) your results will show !
With many challenges you may face , FACE them and keep moving forward. Maine Tax Co has become a successful Small business because of the work ethic I continually put in and the amazing clientele that has kept their continuous trust and support and GOD and family & friends support! I have been blessed to become my own Brand and be of service through my community!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love dining and music , so of course I would suggest the best Bruch spots in Atlanta , the cigar bar , shopping , and spa
And if there is a favorite artist in town … let’s hit the concert.

I would like to dedicate my success to my Mother Germaine Stokes may she rest in Peace (2014)
She is the Reason I am who I am today as an entrepreneur she’s always supported everything I wanted to do and have done !
She always encouraged me to go after what I dreamed of and never give up and if I were to fall and scar get up dust off and try again ! For that I am who I am and I will always go after my dreams !
