We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaquan and Amanda Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaquan and Amanda, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is an important action for every entrepreneur. Without taking a risk , you will never receive a reward. Sometimes taking a risk can be tricky and scary, with fears of the unknown, but perseverance is needed to reach the finish line! Everything that we, as entrepreneurs have accomplished, is a product of risk taking. Birthing comes from risk taking. Taking a step of faith is the reason why the multiple businesses we own today have birthed, one after another!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Anderson Cafe is a gourmet coffee company which started as a virtual brand in 2021. Our menu consists of various beverages including signature lattes , frappes, shakes and sparking drinks, made with house-made syrups and sauces.
Our cafe was birthed from a hobby and genuine love for coffee. When we started this business, the world was just barely recovering from a pandemic. As creatives, we already had a background in content creation and marketing so we decided to pivot, utilizing and combining our skillsets to birth something new, a virtual coffee brand.

We quickly gained quite a buzz on social media, despite us not having an in-person cafe so we decided to open to the public as a ghost kitchen offering delivery services locally.
With all the online buzz, we started receiving numerous requests for in-person experiences, which really became our biggest challenge, so our desire and goal was to provide a place for the community and our customers to visit and enjoy an in-store experience.

Even though we had not acquired a retail location as yet, we still wanted to provide the best experience digitally and to all of our delivery customers. After months of succeeding as a digital brand, receiving numerous online orders and rave reviews, we’re excited to announce the opening of our new coffee stand in Atlanta, Summer 2023!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is home to some of the best restaurants, music, experiences, and overall culture! As local foodies, one of our favorite things to do is check out new or different restaurants in the area. We love a good menu! As of right now, some of our favorite spots to eat and drink are BLU Seafood House, Augustine’s, Wylie & Rum, Tastee Spoon (good drinks/ food) and Jamrock Jerk Center for Jamaican cuisine, Rebel Teahouse for boba tea, Sugar Shanes for dessert and of course why not Anderson Cafe for some good lattes!

We would recommend staying at TWELVE Hotel Downtown! The suites are luxurious and the view overlooking downtown makes you feel like you’re part of all the action! The view from SkyLounge at the Glenn Hotel is also pretty amazing.
Chateau Elan is a winery experience to die for, with beautiful vineyards to walk through and take photos.
The Beltine is a great way to get outdoors and discover the city on foot.
And for some breathtaking nature views, the Vickery Creek Falls in Roswell is great for hiking!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In all honesty, we would like to thank God for every accomplishment we have. Having a personal relationship is the key to our success and God has been there for us every step up of the way. Sometimes, the support you might expect to receive from those around you might be non-existent until you reach a certain point in your journey-and throughout the hills and valleys, God has remained, blessing us with provision, direction, wisdom, and support!
