We had the good fortune of connecting with Shantel Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shantel, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My relationship with God is the most important factor behind my success. He’s the reason behind it all. I consult with him before I do everything. Just having that spiritual guidance and his favor is why I’m successful. The success of my brand comes from having a great team. We’re family! We’re highly trained and experienced, love what we do, love people, work well together, and go above and beyond for our patients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Southern Crescent Medical Center, LLC is a family medical practice located in Stockbridge, GA treating patients of all ages from 3-109 for acute and chronic illness. Our services include annual exams, gynecological exams, weight loss program, DOT Physicals, Mobile Lab service, EKG, Sports Physicals, B12 injections, telemedicine visits, and etc. What sets us apart from others is our warm and friendly environment and the genuine care and concern we have for our patients. We consider our patients family and we treat them as such. We have bilingual staff/Providers, Saturday appointments, and accept All insurances including all Medicaid plans. I’m most proud of being given the opportunity to provide our services to our patients and the community. We’re coming up on our 2nd year anniversary and I’m just excited about the future and expanding. In addition to the medical practice, I’m also the Founder of SCMC’s Walk To Wellness- A nonprofit organization catered to women and girls without health insurance providing free healthcare services, education, and resources to help them be proactive with managing their health conditions. Having a strong prayer life, great support system, and faith in God is what’s gotten me this far. I also took many risks. Taking risks helps you grow. You never know what you can accomplish without taking risks, but the key is knowing what risks to take and when to take them. You just have to pray, believe, and be prepared for the outcome. Starting a business wasn’t easy and still isn’t. I overcome challenges by first praying, then I work to figure out a solution. I find that the earlier you handle a situation the more options you have. So I pray, research, then act. Lessons I’ve learned along the way are 1) Get everything in writing (sign agreements/contracts) 2) Document everything 3) keep personal relationships and business relationships separate 4) Procrastination decreases your options 4) Bad news don’t get better with time 5)Keep great book keeping and stay organized. About me- I’m a highly trained/experienced medical expert with over 14 years experience in the healthcare industry. I went from working in a primary care physician’s office 12+ years to now owning my very own medical practice. I initially had plans to open a home healthcare company but God had other plans. The primary care physician I worked for passed away suddenly without warning, leaving behind a host of patients, family, friends, and the community. Amid the family’s decision to close his practice down, I opened a medical practice to provide a continuum of care to the patients that were left behind and the community. The entire staff from the previous office are still working together as a TEAM to give those same patients the same love and respect we’ve given them over the years and extending it to the new patients as well. I’m blessed to be in a position to help others, I absolutely love what I do, and pray that I inspire and encourage others. At SCMC, we want our patients to know that we’re family, we’re here for them, and we have their best interest at heart!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I don’t get out much, but to have a good time I’d suggest a bar downtown in Atlanta maybe Suite lounge. We’d go to Spondivits, Pappadeaux, and Two Urban Licks to eat. Visit Lenox or Cumberland mall for shopping, Centennial Park, MLK Historical park, take them to ride bikes downtown, and hopefully there’s a concert or an event happening the week they’re here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s so many people I’d like to shout out but to name a few, my first shout out goes to my 2 kids. They’re the reason I kept going when I wanted to give up. My next shout out goes to my family and friends for their encouragement, business advice, and support. Shout out to our 1st Physician Dr. Harold Minerve and Rutledge Medical Associates for their mentorship. Shout out to the staff and Providers at SCMC for all their hardwork and dedication to providing compassionate, quality, healthcare services. And last but not least, a HUGE shout out to our patients (old and new) for staying with us and trusting us with managing their health.
