We had the good fortune of connecting with Sch-Rel Desire and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sch-Rel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my business in 2007, I just wanted to make women feel fabulous by offering statement accessories and fashion. Once I became older and started trying to balance life, work, and business while battling depression I began my spiritual journey and learned the importance of self-care.

Suddenly in 2020, a global pandemic emerged and while trying to empower my online community to continue to stay fabulous at home and keep their mental health in a healthy state, I stressed the importance of pretty lounge clothes and creating a regimen for self-care. Miraculously, the idea to pivot into loungewear/sleepwear was birthed after realizing that the market did not have much to offer from the lens of luxury curated by a black woman.

June 19th, 2020 I released my first satin robe and it sold out quickly shortly thereafter. Black Friday of 2020, I officially introduced my very own luxury satin robe bundle collection with my own designer prints and styles that were vibrant, fabulous, and luxurious. Not only was I designing the satin robes to look and feel luxurious on women, I also made sure that a matching scarf was offered in a bundle.

Since producing my own line of luxury loungewear, I have been able to bring value to my community 10x more than ever because women are now indulging in self-care and feeling fabulous as they luxuriate at home or on vacation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I consider myself a creative entrepreneur because I have a few different entrepreneurial creative talents from fashion design, mixology, to digital content creation. I realized my creative talents in High School and always was inspired by fashion, beauty music, and music videos. Now I find myself actually making a living by expressing myself as a creative.

My journey has not been easy at all, I started in business in 2007 and was trying to figure out how to run a business while balancing the corporate world for 11 years. In 2020, I was terminated from my corporate job and bartending job and had to figure out how to make a living full time from my talents. It is still a challenge, but I know working for someone is not conducive to my purpose and passion in life, so I strive everyday to be better as a business woman to create wealth and help other do the same.

The only way I overcome my challenges is having a positive mindset, and knowing the power of the mind. Staying consistent and passionate sets me apart from others. I show up even when the results are not ideal but because of my spiritual beliefs I know my destiny is on the other side of my determination. One of the lessons I learned is just because you build something doesn’t mean people will come, you have to have a strategic plan to build something people can’t live without.

I’m a Philly girl with a purpose that will never gave up and amongst my come up, I will always make sure I give back to my community and aspiring business women.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family definitely play a large part of my journey due to their support and belief in my gifts. My parents and my sister always show their support. My cousin Dennis has been growing with me as my photographer and now my content studio partner.
