Meet Scarlett Morrison | Birth Doula

We had the good fortune of connecting with Scarlett Morrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scarlett, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My heart and soul are invested in birth work. I felt like for the longest, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life and with each baby that I had myself, I knew that this was it. Being a birth doula means so much to me. It truly is what I am passionate about. Pregnancy, birth, postpartum and everything in between. It’s such a special time in a new parents life, and my goal is to help people embrace birth and not fear it, and to know just how strong and capable their body is!

What should our readers know about your business?
Birth work is my passion. I think many don’t even know that Doulas exist or what their purpose is. My goals are to always uplift and encourage women to know that their bodies are so strong and so capable. I started this journey 5 years ago, and it wasn’t always easy getting here and finishing certification. I had 2 babies in the midst of it and there were times I never saw the finish line. I’m so glad I stuck with it and kept pushing. Birth is such an amazing, and beautiful thing. There’s so much fear surrounding birth and I want to help people embrace it instead of fear it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One place I know my kids would choose is the Battery. We always enjoy a slice of pizza from Antico’s and catching a Braves game when we can. During the off season, we still go to eat and explore. It’s fun to just sit back and watch my kids run around and have fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband is and always has been my biggest supporter. He always encouraged me to keep going, even when I felt like I may never finish my certification. I also have a big family, who has always cheered me on. I am extremely thankful for all of them. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge in the field of birth work from many books, social media accounts, mentors, and my own births and life experiences.
