We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Rozier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started Monroz, I basically just wanted an outlet for things I personally enjoyed, which was taking risqué pictures. I wanted to be able to be my true self and service other women who enjoyed being sexy. Moreover, I was at a point where I really hated my job. I wanted to make enough money so I would be able to leave that job.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Monroz started out as an intimate apparel boutique. I want every woman to feel sexy because feeling good about yourself in this social climate is hard! Social media makes it hard to feel sexy when you are constantly comparing yourself to others. Sexy is an attitude, not a size or shape. I’m currently working on expanding it to branded shirts along with sexy attire to wear ‘outside’! Lol! It’s been a challenge creating a business in the middle of a pandemic! I don’t know what I was thinking! Lol! It hasn’t been easy, but most definitely worth it! I’ve learned so much about myself during this journey! I have persevered by having a good support team. They won’t let me give up! I’ve learned along the way that consistency is key. You have to continue to support your business and brand regardless how many people support you! It will pay off ! One thing that I really want to be known is that I’m just a regular girl, single mom from small town that decided to step outside the box and do what truly made her happy! Small towns tend to be close minded and afraid of taking risks. I went against the grain, moved to a big city alone, and worked my butt off to get to where I am currently. I’m not where I want to be, but I’m nowhere close to where I used to be!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Just a week? Whew! We would most definitely go to BQE!!! Loveeeeeee their brunch!! I would most definitely take her to the Skyview! If we could fit another brunch into our week, it would be at Ms. Icey’s. We could hang out one night at Whiskey Mistress and maybe chill at the House of Hookah. Dinner has to be at Apt. 4B one night for sure. However, her last night in town, dinner and drinks would be at Pasha! I’ve met the most interesting people at festivals in Piedmont Park. Hopefully, they come back soon!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When creating Monroz, I probably drove my friends Joshua and Krystal crazy with questions. I had never did anything like this before and had NO idea where to begin! They never made me feel inferior. Any information or advice I needed was given! My sister and best friend also need some recognition in my story! My sister T.J. is my biggest fan! She supports me like no other! I’m sure her lingerie drawer is overflowing! Haha! My best friend Jazmin works in the marketing field, so she most definitely was a part of the creation of Monroz!
