We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Cameron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would say the combination of my past AND my optimism for the future has been responsible for my success thus far. Because as a child I was a lil trouble maker, so I’m kinda used to not having the “praise” at that time. Then in late highschool i went through a hard situation & ended up being incarcerated for a while. But it was during that time when I really buckled down, & decided to be a better person, for mySelf. And then through that, I learned that was where my success came from – and I became more studious. I started reading business & self help books, & working on my mind/body/soul – to the extent that when I was released, I left highly decorated with college credits & numerous certifications. And here I am now, with a college degree – a self published book – acting in music videos & movies – modeling the runway – directing short films (coming soon) – a fashion line on the way – & so much more on the way. So all in all, I would say the reason for my success is just THAT…Having the determination to Want more for myself – & then being hard headed enough to not give in along the way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is just an expression of my imagination, & how I view the world.

I got where I am today by try, trying again, & then being hard headed enough to keep trying Afterwards.
(And No – for the record. It Hasn’t been easy)

I overcome my challenges & obstacles by keeping my goals in sight. And through That, I’m reminded to persevere.

I’ve learned that nothing comes easy. And when it does, it usually doesn’t wont last or stay that way for long.

I was the average class clown during school, who unfortunately ended up serving 10 years in the GA prisons.
But through that, I decided to be stronger then & Overcome my oppression.
And now : I’m a college graduate – self published Author – Actor – Animator – Model – & aspiring Director.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Lots of places, but the ones off the top of my head are : – Pao Pao ramen bar
-Tabla
– Ocean Wave, by Harry and Sons
– Any of the Punk Black events
– Momo-Con
– King of Diamonds
– Walk (or Scooter) the Belt line, or check Ponce City market
– Putt Shack
– Battle & Brew
– Explore Little 5 points
– An Atlanta United game
– StoneCrest mall

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely give ALL thanks (1st & foremost) to the Creator, because all things wouldn’t have been possible without his leave. 2nd, my Moms & Pops, for always being there & holding me down and guiding me (as best they can). But beyond that – all the homies behind the wall. Because coming from a similar situation, I definitely understand that there are Tons of talented – brilliant – and great individuals, who unfortunately aren’t going to get that chance again to Share their abilities & gifts. And show how they can help Change the world. So i try not to ever forget my situation, where I came from, & where I am now – & I’m always most thankful for That. So my shout outs definitely go out to them.
But outside of that…just everyone who’s still Grinding, even when times are super hard & not giving up – (Because i’m a big advocate for that). Always stay down for the ride until you come up, because life will throw some heavy stuff at you – but you cant let those thoughts weigh you down. A lot of times we feel like life’s Over so we’ll just throw in the towel – but never forget that tomorrow’s another Day. You’ll have more time to get it right, or other times where you can try again. And sometimes we can feel so burdened by our situation that its hard to see the way out – but trust me, if you stay focused on your goals & keep the belief within Yourself, it will Always play itself out. The universe will never put you in a situation where you weren’t meant to experience & grow from.
