We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosalyn Snow Childs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rosalyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The reason I started my business is because I have a love and passion for it. My mother would always say, “When you are willing to do something for free, it will last a lifetime, as if you are not even working, because you have a love for it.” ~Rosa Marie McCree Snow
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I came up with the name Etiquette Beauty Salon because it gives others an understanding of what to expect when they arrive. We have respect for one another, integrity, and welcome all walks of life.
I have always had a vision for my business. It is definitely open to all hair types, offering everything from stylish haircuts and weaves to elegant updos.
My goal is to bring everyone together in a peaceful and classy manner.
In the early 2000, I started from my parents’ kitchen, scheduling appointments as a traveling stylist. Then, I began school and took my education seriously. I knew I wasn’t playing with my career when I took a leap of faith and traveled to London to attend the Vidal Sassoon Academy for haircutting.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely spoil her with a hair service—a quick and simple stylish hairstyle. She’d enjoy a nice massage shampoo, a silk press, a hydration steamer treatment, and a light trim. Then, we would have brunch at First Watch. Afterwards, we would walk around the streets near the Peachtree Corners bridge built for pedestrians and visit the Forum for a little shopping. Later, we would have a light lunch and head back to Town Center where the park is located to chat and brainstorm business ideas for the future. I love to network and talk about future success and how we can elevate to the next level.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents, who have always supported me, and my grandma, who has given her time and love to our community, have taught me the value of life. They have instilled in me the importance of always being prepared for anything and everything, and to always keep God first in everything I do.
Never lose sight of where you came from. Always think three steps ahead. Keep learning, keep growing, and keep striving, as my uncle would say.
