We had the good fortune of connecting with Robyn Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robyn, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks and rewards go hand in hand. And really, most of the things we do every day involve risk: stepping out of the bed, taking a shower, preparing food, unlocking the door, driving, saying hello to strangers — the list is long. The decisions I’ve benefitted from in extraordinary ways came from being willing to take calculated risks.

In terms of supporting myself financially, I have been able to earn substantial income for over 15 years as a business owner because I realized that it would be even more risky to leave my livelihood up to someone else. I traded the false security of a job for the overexaggerated risks of finding and fulfilling work as a professional consultant.

Relationships thrive on taking chances -in a good way- too. I am happily married because I allowed myself to be vulnerable enough to give and receive love and support from another imperfect human being. Some of my best and longest lasting friendships have stood the test of time for the same reason that my marriage works so beautifully.

What should our readers know about your business?
My company is Robyn Studios Architecture & Interiors. I have a designer for over 23 years, but founded RS in 2020 just as the pandemic was being announced. My mission is to get our clients past information overload and unclear direction to done with our innovative, expertise-driven solutions. We offer three key things:

Being a business owner has its challenges. We have to both generate and fulfill the work. But I really enjoy the freedom of immediately and drastically increasing my income simply by applying myself more. Very few jobs on the planet can match that.

I have learned that being willing to reinvent yourself keeps opportunities landing at your feet. Before college, I was actually going to be an engineer, but decided at the last minute to follow my truest desire and pursue architecture. After graduating, I found the career path to be too long and fruitless, so I became a real estate investor. After the recession of 2008, I returned to practicing architecture but decided to keep working for myself instead of at a firm. Each of these pivots required me to keep an open mind, take risks, and be determined to succeed. So, that’s what I did.

I built Robyn Studios on a foundation of leveraging resources, serving good people, and developing what we call the Creative Edge Method. With this method, homeowners go from just ideas to well-appointed designs in no time, including 3D visuals and materials guidance. Home builders & developers expand into new markets with expertly composed signature home designs. We also complete select light commercial projects.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Over the course of the week, we go to Chateau Elan to relax, shopping in Alpharetta, eat breakfast at Another Broken Egg, walk the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and have dinner at Cafe Bombay in Druid Hills.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Ryan, seems to have been made just for me. His kindness, insight, patience, and honesty have made me a better person in just four and counting years of marriage. My family, especially my parents, have always made me feel supported, loved, and valued. I am especially close to my mom. It is a special thing when your parent is also your friend. My mom loves me and helps me with all she has. This unfailing support has shaped me in many ways and is a key part of why I have had any measure of success in life.

My global congregation of fellow worshippers is unmatched in all the universe. We share the same Bible education work around the world that our King and Savior Jesus started and are so proud to be witnesses of his Father, Jehovah God.
