Meet Re’Nae D. | Fashion designer and publisher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Re’Nae D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Re’Nae, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The success of my brand is determined by the amount of people’s lives uplifted by my creations. From the customized designs to the publication of ROYAL magazine, my mission is to Change the World Through Fashion and represent the unrepresented. So if I’m doing that, I am successful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Not only am I a fashion designer and icon, but I am also a behavior therapist. I provide behavior therapy to children with autism. I love my job and my focus. I have always been interested in how the brain works, and working with kids with autism shows me that there is more to the brain than we know. My kiddos motivated me to continue learning about behavior and encouraged me to pursue a certification as a BCBA. I will eventually be a doctor of psychology with a specialization in behavior. This job requires lots of patience, resilience, and fluidity. Not every kid is the same, and I must learn more so that I can be beneficial to the families I support.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from the west side of Atlanta, however I am familiar with lots of local Atlanta places. To get a real Atlanta experience, you have to be willing to walk, ride the bus, and go on some sketchy streets, but overall it’s lots to do. I love going to the park, so I know many community parks that we can go to: West End Park and Washington park are amongst my favorites. I would also take them to some good wing spots. Any wing place on MLK will be fine, but The Bando is a new place and its really good. The best Mexican food comes from No Mas, right the Benz stadium. I would take them to Cumberland Mall, maybe sixflags and white waters if we have time. Finally, for a night out on the town, we could go over to East Point and go to a lounge or edgewood area, which also has some daiquiri bars and lounges as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Lifestyle By Mari is a fairly new brand. She is a certified nail tech who specializes in gelx nails. She is creative, fun, and attentive. We met a few months ago but she eve been locked in since. She is an amazing nail tech and friend. Mari specializes in business and entrepreneurial development. From what I know of her, Mari is definitely a quiet storm.
