We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Fazzio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been a reader. As soon as I learned how to read I devoured everything I could get my hands on from books to shampoo bottles. Becoming a writer was just a natural progression for me, a way to immerse myself even further into the words I love so much.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started writing at an early age as a way to escape a difficult home life. Even in school, my essays always had a creative edge—often costing me points for not strictly following the rubric. My first real outlet for storytelling came through fanfiction, thanks to my best friend, Stephanie. She introduced me to a world where everyday people, not just famous authors, were sharing incredible stories simply because they loved to write. Since I didn’t have a computer growing up, we would sit at hers for hours, reading and discovering these hidden gems. That’s when it clicked—I could do this too. Before long, I was publishing my own fanfiction, and it wasn’t long before I started writing original stories.

It wasn’t until my early thirties, when I met my writing partners, J.A. Good and Veronica Perez, that I realized this passion of mine could become more than just a hobby. We started a collaborative writing project, each taking turns writing chapters and building off each other’s ideas. We quickly realized how well our styles complemented one another, and that project evolved into Of Blood and Magic, which we self-published in 2023.

Self-publishing gave us full creative control—no agents, no publishers, just us making our own path. While it has its challenges, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The experience has been an incredible learning journey, proving to me that I can take on hard things and turn dreams into reality.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is an incredible place. I grew up in Mississippi, but I have fond memories of visiting family here with my grandmother, which has always made the city feel special to me. When my husband’s job brought us here, I felt so lucky—not just to live in a city I already loved, but to experience it all over again through my family’s eyes.

Our go-to spots are the aquarium and the zoo—we never get tired of them! And with so many beautiful green spaces and parks, it feels like we discover a new one every time we go out.

And the food! Atlanta’s dining scene is unbeatable. Atlanta Breakfast Club is hands down the best breakfast spot, and from there, it’s just a quick walk to the aquarium. One of my favorite things about living here is that you could eat out for every meal and never run out of new places to try. There’s always something delicious waiting to be discovered!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to recognize my incredible writing partners, J. A. Good and Veronica Perez. Without their unwavering support and encouragement, I wouldn’t have the courage to put my work out into the world.
