We had the good fortune of connecting with Rashieda Timpson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rashieda, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
If you have a vision or dream, pursue it despite what others may think. When you are a visionary you have to understand that God has given you the vision and sometimes others can not see it because he did not give the vision to them. You have to be comfortable working sometimes by yourself to see the vision come into existence until help comes along. Don’t let your vision or dream die because of others’ unbelief, lack of help, or it is not taking off as fast as you thought it would. If you put in the work and remain patient your vision or dream will come to pass.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was born in Chicago, Illinois where I spent most of my childhood there until unforeseen circumstances forced me to move to Toledo, Ohio. During my teenage years, I continued to face many obstacles and struggled finding my identity, which led to substance abuse, bad relationships and poor decisions. I always had a connection with God, praying at a young age, but did not develop a relationship with God until my mid-20s, where I had an encounter with the Holy Spirit that changed my life forever. It has not been a walk in the park, there were many bumps in the road.  I had to endure the bumps because I knew if I kept going I would have periods of the road being smooth eventually. The key is not to get off the road. Keep going because greater is straight ahead! Due to the struggles and issues I faced, I feel compelled to be a spokesperson for Jesus Christ and I have devoted my life to the mission of service.

Over the years I have been ordained as Minister, Elder, and now Pastor, continuing to elevate in the kingdom of God. I started at the bottom facing all types of challenges, but I pressed on and excelled in education receiving at first my state tested nursing certificate at the age of 19 then becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse, Bachelors of Science in Nursing -Registered Nurse, Master of Science in Nursing, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I am currently in school at this moment to obtain my doctorate degree which will be completed in 2021. I have received many awards, which includes recognition from the Lucas County Commissioners and Mayor’s office. I also received an award in 2015 for being an emerging leader from the African American Legacy Project of NW Ohio.  I was also selected to lead a prestigious international nursing honor organization as chapter president.

I am the author of the newly written book “Predestine for Greatness” which encourages readers that no matter what has happened in their past that discourages them from becoming successful, it will not stop them from reaching their highest dreams. I am the spokeswoman for Rashieda Timpson Ministries which houses the program “A Way of Thinking Broadcast which is on  radio and cable television stations. I am an empowerment speaker, purpose pusher, preacher, teacher, author, community advocate, mentor and spokeswoman for God who is passionate about Jesus and helping his people unlock the greatness that is inside of them while helping individuals to strive toward a deeper relationship with the Heavenly Father. I am married to my husband Telly and I am the mother of four beautiful children, Antwuan, Martwuan, Nakyia and Amari.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Here in Atlanta there are so many places to go to! One of my favorite spots is to go to Ponce City Market! It has everything in once place food, shopping, and on the rooftop you can play miniature golf, carnival games, and listen to music. On the roof top you also can see downtown Atlanta which is beautiful at night. Another great spot is to go to the Coca-Cola Factory, National Center for Civil Rights, and the Georgia Aquarium. If you are looking for more great food places you have Rays on the River that plays live jazz on weekends and The Capital Grille for an eloquent cuisine that will satisfy you palate. If you are looking for entertainment you can catch a show at the Fox Theater. If you are looking for adventure you can go to Six Flags!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to first say that God is the one who has blessed me to be where I am today. He has guided me down the right paths and has also open doors that I could not have imagined. I also would like to thank my husband Telly Timpson for always being there for me pushing me to finish the course even when difficult times arise. My husband is my greatest support and I appreciate him for loving and encouraging me. I also want to thank my children for loving me unconditionally and allowing me to love unconditionally. I am grateful to my family and church Greater Restoration & Revelation Ministries for loving me and being a support.
