Meet Rachel Diamond

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Diamond and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always loved weddings. I grew up in a large family and my mom is a musician, so I probably went to more weddings than the average child. As I got older, I started helping my friends plan their weddings. I work full time as a Project Manager, so planning and organizing things is really fun for me. The jump to coordinating weddings wasn’t something I had really planned. It started when a friend was getting married. I mentioned to his mom that I could help with their wedding and everything grew from there. That first wedding was a real learning experience and I’ve changed a lot of how I manage weddings since those early days. It’s been a slow and steady development over the last 7 years, but it’s been a lot of fun.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Diamond Weddings & Events because I love helping people plan and execute events, and a wedding is one of the largest events that people ever throw. I pride myself on offering stress free wedding days. I make it my job to take on the stress on behalf of my clients so they can enjoy everything they planned. There are so many incredible wedding planners and coordinators out there. What sets us apart is our commitment to our clients. No matter your wedding size or complexity, you will recieve the same care and attention. I personally believe that every bride deserves the same engagement and dedication regardless of budget. I’ve built my business on that belief. Building a business isn’t easy, but it has been worth the effort. I’m constatly learning new things about the wedding industry and the challenges that come with being a small business owner. My best advice for someone starting out is be willing to learn and admit when you don’t have an answer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta is such a fun city and I don’t take advantage of all the city has to offer as much as I should. When I have friends visiting, I usually start a Stone Mountain. We might hike the mountain to check out the view from the top follwed by a picnic on the lawn before watching the laser show. The next day we, we are enjoying bruch at Buttermilk Kitchen. That is my absolute favorite brunch spot and I always get the biscuits and gravy. After brunch, we would probably head downtown to check out the Georgia Aquarium and/or World of Coca Cola. Did you know that Georgia residents can get into the Georgia Aquarium for free on your birthday? On a Sunday, we would visit my church, Christ Covenant Church, for morning worship followed by a relaxing afternoon walk through Brook Run park in Dunwoody. I would highly recommend a day trip up to Dahlonega and Amicalola Falls. I would likely end the trip with dinner at Ponce City Market Skyline Park where we can enjoy views of the city and mini golf.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It sounds a little cliche, but I owe so much of my success to my mom, Gail. She has always been supportive of my career and growth, even though she often doesn’t really understand what I do. But more than that, there is so much of what I do as a Wedding Coordinator with my mom in mind. I’m thinking about what my mom would need in any given moment of the planning experience. For example, I always make sure the family seats are well stocked with good tissues because I know my mom would need those at my wedding. I realize that the wedding day holds great importance for mothers, so I treat the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom like I would want my mom to be treated.
