We had the good fortune of connecting with Quania Love Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quania Love, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
It’s not easy. Thick skin is a requirement. On the back end, this type of work takes a lot of strategic thinking along with marketing, networking, creativity, editing, and even acting skills. I am continuously re-educating myself. There is always something new. It does, however, remain exciting.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand began with MySpace. I’ve had popularity in school but this was the first time I realized that it could be duplicated online. I found it fascinating. I was heavy into modeling so my content was focused on images from my photoshoots. Then came Facebook, I immediately hopped on and was able to do the same thing on a bigger level. At this point I found all of my peers from the different schools I attended which made my audience grow even more. I started working in film, on commercials, and with a dance company. I began incorporating my behind the scenes footage so that my audience could feel like they were on the journey with me. Things were going great. I realized that I could turn popularity into money. I would continuously get booked for music videos, photoshoots, and independence film projects.

All of a sudden a new website came about called Instagram. I honestly didn’t want to get on it. I had a friend that pleaded with me until I finally gave in. Once I got on I realized that it was more focused on content in comparison to the other sites. I began studying it and experimenting. I applied all of my knowledge and would ask for advice from other models or rappers I knew with large accounts. Then I listened to what they told me. Over the years I’ve had so many people shout me out without me asking. The success was similar in regards to the ways money came about.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start the day off with sweet tea and crawfish beignets from Brenda’s. Then head out to inspiration mountain for a scenic hike. Once we finish up, we would head to Alamar kitchen to order the whole dungenes crab with a side of corn and potatoes. After that delicious meal we would go to Pearl Spa and Sauna for an exfoliating body scrub with 24 karat gold extract. Deeply relaxed, we would take a break at the beautiful Fairmont hotel then change for dinner.

Dinner would be held at Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse. The ambiance alone is breathtaking. After appeasing our appetite we would go to The View to enjoy a scenic nightlife experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my mother. She started off as a model and also worked for a production studio. I have learned a tremendous amount about the industry just being around her. She has consistently been my mentor, challenging me, and performing duties beyond any regular manager. It also makes such a difference that her knowledge comes from her experience. She is graceful with southern charm yet can turn into a fierce business woman when needed. I am so grateful for her and humbled to be her pupil.
