We had the good fortune of connecting with Quadir Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Quadir, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting “In The City Magazine” was simply connecting the buyer to the supplier. We also use the high profile of influencers on each cover to also highlight dope young creators the right way. We accomplish this by creating a stable atmosphere where all of our staff members are vested assets and decision-makers. Other than prayer, our staff is the reason why any success is reached.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been a business owner for about 15yrs now. And before then I was a football coach. I’ve always worked in management during my years and one day started doing photography. First I was just shooting as a hobby then I got into shooting fashion and fashion shows all over the US. I gained a following and after working for a few other magazines. I started my own by using the following I amassed from previous years of video and print production. I know contract with other video and creative artists on a bunch of dope projects. Haven’t had too many major challenges because the magazine staff is so on point with everything. I’m just so very happy about all the A1 professionals that support me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a Work-A-Hollick but I definitely would do the historical features of the city of Atlanta, then on another day go stroll the complete beltline stopping for treats and drinks. On Thursday we would head over to the High Museum but on the same day also visit a smaller local museum. We would hit MJQ on Friday and a different spot on Saturday. At some point, we would visit a production studio to network and see or hear dope music being created. And we couldn’t have a weekend in Atlanta without a bite from Kabaab Land or a Bar B Que to crash
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All praises are due to God, And I definitely want to shoutout Alima, Mel, Markeith, Neisha, KDot, Kim, Hannah, Sherrika Daysha, Jaz, Chrispop, LilQ, Zaira, JasLee, Fabian, Mimi, Topanga, Tordum
