We had the good fortune of connecting with Pylot Tea and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Pylot, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
You have to have balance & you have to have priorities . Everyone & everything doesnt deserve your attention . I don’t make an itinerary for each day but I do have a general idea of what I’ll be doing. Writing things down & having a planner helps . Having daily , weekly , monthly , yearly goals helps keep track & take accountability for said ambitions. Overworking yourself is counterproductive & will result in burnout or creative blocks . If you dont consistently put in the work you will never reach your goals . You have to live your life & allow it to fuel your creative endeavors or work . Everyone is different so that balance wont look the same for different people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a female producer, engineer , & recording artist . I spent so much time in sessions that I could hear how to engineer or produce by simply hearing the process so many times . I applied myself & began practicing & learning how to engineer & produce. You have to find your niche & work it . In an oversaturated market you have to stand out . People will come to you specifically for a style of engineering or production when they can go anywhere . The people who dont question your prices are the main ones who actually shop & may return . Base your price on the time it took to develop the skill , not the time it takes to complete a job. If no one is paying your prices you may not be as good as you think. Wizmatic is my brand which simply means a being being magnetic to wisdom . There is no growth in comfortability or doing the same thing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I was in Columbia , SC where I was born & raised I would get a boat & head to Lake Murray . I like fresh fruit & veggies so we could checkout the farmers market . I also like soul food so we’d have to stop by Big Tees BBQ .

Now I live in Atlanta . We’d have to stop by OurBarATL on Edgewood , go bar hopping in Buckhead or the club MJ Cube . We could go to any Mexican spot , sit outside & get a margarita . Lil 5pts is a cool area to shop & drink . Sunday dinner at my sis house every sunday.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Uncle Sam Beats gave me the DAW Fruity Loops in 2017 . Now I produce , record , mix & master on there .

Reesey Muney & I have been collaborating on music since 2020. He sends me beats , kits , loops , & midis to this day. I sent him 2 songs recently that I used his loops on.

Dirty Visuals has shot over 10 music videos for me . Most were shot in Columbia , South Carolina but we also shot videos in Augusta & Atlanta , Georgia .

These are good friends to this day.
