Meet Purvis Beach | CEO and Music Producer Platinum Level Production Inc.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Purvis Beach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Purvis, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I was born into a musical family. My father is a Gospel artist. He always had a challenge with finding a musician that would cater to his style so he created one (LOL). I got my start as his musician and in 2000 became his music producer. It was clear to me this was my calling and I haven’t looked back since.
My artist name: PBX
Business Name: Platinum Level Production (PLP) I came up with the name PLP as I believe that the work of myself and the artist of the company will ALWAYS produce “platinum” work!!!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Clive Davis isn’t the only one with the “golden ear” (lol) I hear sounds/music from commercials, video games, phone alerts and blend them with my own creative music. So much of my artistry is just being in tune with the world around me.
I created a genre of music known as “New Soul Fuzion” The truth is soul is integrated into all music but it’s not always acknowledged as such. I take it as a personal mission to raise the consciousness that soul music is the father of modern music as we know it.
My journey in the music industry hasn’t been a difficult one. If you measure it based on the money I’ve made it may not appear a success, but to measure my career based on peace of mind of having creative freedom of being a CEO, of an independent label that has chosen to ONLY create music that inspires the world is priceless.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The heart of the ATL for me is Atlantic Station. There is such a variety of things to do at the station and family and clients get an intro to a variety of shops and activities in one location. We also take family/artist on the “social justice” tour to the Civil Rights Museum, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Park, his birth home, and end the day with dinner at Paschal’s
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Obviously, my family has been both a support and an inspiration. My father (Da’Gatherer) and my wife (Leisha McKinley-Beach) have continued to motivate and inspire me to give my all to my craft.
Greatest influence from producers across several musical eras. From the 70s Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway to current, Dr. Dre, and Kanye West.
