We had the good fortune of connecting with Philip Spandorfer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Philip, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
We have two children who are both well adjusted and successful. They are in college currently and we could not be more proud of the adults they are becoming. We always made education a priority in our house along with an attempt to instill morals to do the right thing. Our children have seen us be committed to lifelong learning as a way to continually improve ourselves. We are also very volunteer oriented. We are always volunteering for a cause or non-profit that has meaning to us. We like to give to others and help others. We feel that these traits will be passed on to our children as as we saw them in our parents.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a pediatrician in the Brookhaven/Sandy Springs area. I am trained in both pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. I no longer practice in the emergency department, but am a full time general pediatrician. I also maintain an active blog site at DrPip.com. I believe what sets me apart is that I offer practical advice for young parents who often feel overwhelmed by all the advice and information they are receiving. I have an approach that gives parents a way to not feel overwhelmed with a newborn and furthermore to get their newborn infants to sleep 12 hours through the night by the age of 4 months.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start our Atlanta exploration with a meal on Buford Highway – there is something for everyone there. We would then go for a hike on the East Palisades trail of the Chattahoochee River. We would walk the Belt Line, ride bikes on the Alpharetta Green Way, visit the Battery and take in a Braves game. We would also try to catch a Falcon’s game at Mercedes Benz stadium as well as an Atlanta United game. We would spend an afternoon at the Botanical Gardens.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am today without the love and support of my family. First my parents for encouraging me and supporting me. My parents set the example of being volunteers. Secondly, my wife and children have supported me throughout my career. They have tolerated the long hours and constant interruptions that my work requires sometimes.
