We had the good fortune of connecting with Petra Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Petra, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I have always had to balance the two. For as long as I can remember I’ve worn “multiple hats” if you will. The task of changing course but not keeping your dedication to all aspects can be detrimental. I try to give 100% to everything I do. There are times this balance becomes difficult and it’s often hard to ask for help but I have some awesome friends that will step in when I need them. Balance keeps us moving, without that movement nothing will ever happen.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very versatile. I think often people get stuck in their own box and dare to venture out. As I have come to this point in my life I have given myself permission to embrace the contrasting aspects of my personality and creativity. I think I am still growing professionally. There is still so much more to do and accomplish. My vision for Torch Movement LLC becoming a lifestyle brand that nurtures every aspect of the female experience.
I’ve learned so much in this business, I’ve met amazing people that have renewed my faith in friendship and caring.
I want people to feel my authenticity. I want them to see the beauty that is my business and the message behind all of the moves and undertakings. God has blessed me and this business immensely and I want Him to be glorified in all that I do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am somewhat of a party girl. I love to go where I can hear live music and enjoy a cocktail. I love dancing and on the other end of the spectrum I enjoy museums and art so we could end up all over the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate everything I do to my daughters Harmony and Kaitlyn, they are the reason I do everything. I want them to see that no matter what the circumstances are you can achieve what you want.
