We had the good fortune of connecting with Patricia Barron LaSharon Warren and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patricia Barron, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Back in 2010, we were just a couple of hobby bakers with a wild idea: why not combine two of our favorite things—cocktails and cake? The bakery scene felt like it was missing that extra bit of fun, so we decided to shake things up and Cupcake On The Rocks was born. Our tagline? “You can have your drink and eat it too!” It was all about indulging in something a little different, and it turned out people loved it!

As our boozy treats gained popularity, we started getting featured on deal sites, and suddenly, we were in the spotlight. But with success came the stress of juggling baking, work, and family life. Eventually, we realized we needed to hit pause and focus on what mattered most—our family. So, we took a step back, closed the business, but kept our hands in the dough with small orders here and there.

Fast forward to 2021, and our family dynamics had totally shifted. The kids were older and more independent, and we found ourselves itching to dive back into the bakery world. But this time, we were smarter about it—no more burnout, just pure fun. We’re back to doing what we love, bringing you those unique, high-quality treats that put a smile on your face and a little party in your mouth!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our business, Cupcake On The Rocks, is all about creating unique, gourmet treats with a twist. We do cupcakes, cake pops, brownies, parfaits, gourmet Rice Krispie treats, and stuffed cookies, but what sets us apart is the bold flavors and creative combinations. Each treat is designed to be more than just something sweet—it’s an experience. We’re really proud of the attention to detail we put into everything we make and the high-quality ingredients we use to ensure every bite is something special.
Getting to where we are now hasn’t been easy. Like any business, there have been plenty of challenges, especially in learning how to juggle all the different aspects—time management, marketing, growing the brand while still keeping that personal touch. But we’ve learned to overcome those challenges by staying focused, reaching out for help when we need it, and being willing to learn from our mistakes. Having a supportive network has made a huge difference, too.

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is to never give up, even when things get tough. The journey has had its ups and downs, but sticking with it, pushing through the hard days, and keeping the bigger picture in mind has been key. What we want the world to know about Cupcake On The Rocks is that it’s built on passion, creativity, and love for what we do. It’s about bringing joy through desserts, and we hope our story encourages others to follow their dreams, no matter how hard the road gets.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been a few key resources that have really shifted our mindset and helped us grow, both personally and in our business. One book that had a huge impact on us is Atomic Habits by James Clear. It showed us how small, consistent changes can make a big difference, especially in how we organize our days and build better habits. Another game-changer was The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber. It made us realize how important it is to work on our business, not just in it.

When it comes to podcasts, Baking for Business with Chef Schonberg has been a constant source of inspiration. Hearing other entrepreneurs share their stories and how they’ve overcome challenges has motivated us to keep going, even when things get tough. These resources have been so valuable in helping us think bigger, stay focused, and believe in the potential of ‘Cupcake On The Rocks’ to become something truly special.
