Meet Prophett | Music Artist/ Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Prophett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Prophett, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me, it has always been the goal to be my own Boss and be able to set my schedule. I started as an independent musician from a young age and I believe having to be self-sufficient and motivated builds character. I never found appeal in the 9-5 life. Although I’ve had to work jobs in the past, it only made me realize more how much I wanted to be independent.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started writing songs and rapping at the age of 7 and honed my talents till I was able to take it professionally. I went professional with my music when I was about 19 years old. I believe what sets me apart is definitely my unique life experiences. I don’t think there’s another person on this earth that can say they have experienced life in the same what that I have or sees things the way I see things.
I’m most proud of the type of music I put out and the fact that I’ve been independent and pushing this whole thing for years mostly alone. It takes a lot of strength and character to do that.
There have definitely been times when I just wanted to call it quits but I look at how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned. Also the kinds of people I’ve been privileged to meet along the way. Furthermore, there’s no greater satisfaction than seeing people connect deeply with your art.
I would say that the thing that has kept me going is definitely my passion for music and my will to succeed.
A major thing I’ve learned is that as long as you keep going, everything else will follow. It’s the inability to be persistent and consistent that kills dreams.
One thing I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I’m on my way to doing great things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Would definitely be the beach or the club. I guess it can be both too. The beach is I just wanna vibe and relax (this is sometimes what I would consider the best time ever). Enjoying the sound of the water and the sun on my skin.
Definitely, if we hit the club we finna go crazy.
A week-long itinerary will involve going out to eat(I’m talking seafood, sushi or just some nice Italian food), taking drives around the city to show them around and probably just spending a lot of time downtown.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely would love to give a shoutout to my parents. I think their guidance and support have been paramount in my success and growth all around. Family truly is my rock. I also would like to give a shoutout to myself obviously for never giving up on myself.
