Hi Omar, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is an essential part of running and growing a business. However, I believe that any risk taken should be calculated. We are all familiar with the Ben Franklin quote “Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained”, which implies that there is no reward without risk. This is absolutely true in business whether you are in a well-defined space or charting new waters. Taking calculated risks allow you to hedge the bet on yourself through extensive research, tial and error, or by having a solid plan B. There has certainly been some risk taking in my business from bringing a pocket square holder to market all the way to venturing full time after being laid off and buying a commercial loft space. When it comes to risk for me and my business, it just has to make sense. The pieces must fit into place and the risk has to be a valuable move as it pertains to the growth of the brand.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Bespokuture apart from many of the current custom clothing brands is that we have slowed down the process and reverted back to the roots of bespoke artistry. We are not concerned with technological trends or expediting the process of garment making. Instead, we are providing our clients with phenomenally crafted garments and shoes by hand cutting and stitching to perfection. What’s interesting to note is that it is relatively easy to get into this business. However, it can be difficult to separate from the pack. It took me a while to get the right tailors and cobblers on board and refine the offering for a truly valuable experience. There were many challenges along the way especially since this line of work includes a mixture of art and science. It has taken some time to be able to fully translate a client’s vision into a beautifully crafted design that is functional and fits beautifully. I started out slowly just trying to understand my potential client needs and desires. As time moved along, my level of knowledge increased along with my passion. Through wins and loses, I was able to mold the offering into something that each client could appreciate as it related to their personal investment into style.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife of 7 years has been one of the biggest factors to my success. She has supported me during difficult times, lifted me up whenever I was down, and stood by me as I continued to push forward in the business. The beauty of this partnership is that we are able to enjoy the wins together, which makes success so much sweeter!
