We had the good fortune of connecting with Nuvia Lanzagorta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nuvia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business because I had just had my baby, at that time my mother was in Mexico sick with cancer, so I had to have some income to help my mother but at the same time I had to take care of my children.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My business is called “Sweet Moments” and we are dedicated to the design and preparation of floral and fruit arrangements of the best quality, what we do is different from other companies since we do things with Love, our main goal is to create a “moment” unforgettable for the person who sends as well as for the person who receives It has been 8 years of hard work, starting from nothing and learning both the art and my clients to get to know the market. I did not go to any school nor have I taken courses for this, everything has been learned through trial and error, completely self-taught and that allows me to be very flexible with clients and do things to their liking, if they ask for fruit, if they ask for flowers or strawberries covered in chocolate that on some occasions customers want some logo or phrase engraved on it and so we put it on the white chocolate that covers the strawberries, I think this is what has made us spread the word and leave us recommending. Nowadays we work for law firms, for local Hispanic television stations and in the last year we have been hired to be part of the catering for the artists who come to give shows in the city. The challenges have been many, mainly because I am a single mother and It is not easy to be able to balance my work to raise my 3 children and at the same time be there for them. Along the way I have learned that alliances are very important to be able to move forward, that to receive you must first give and that things only work out. If one dares even with fear, because fear is what often paralyzes our actions. I want the world to know that working on what you love gives you a new way of living life and facing things, my work has been my therapy, my livelihood and what has opened doors for me that I never imagined. Although my mother died, I will never forget that the first arrangement I made was thinking of her and as if she had received it from there, all the love and effort I put into each of the orders we have.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go to Helen to enjoy nature and see the waterfalls, returning we could eat in Ponce City and we could finish a walk through the Aquarium and the Olympic Park, I would love for you to visit Blue Ridge, the mountains are beautiful.

To say goodbye, dinner at the Sundial restaurant with a view of the city that is beautiful!
