We had the good fortune of connecting with Nita Creekmore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nita, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking. Whew! I truly feel that calculated risks are so important. I take risks all the time, however, I have to weigh the pros/cons first. I truly feel that we all have one life to live–let’s live it to the fullest. In my life, I took a risk to move from Northern Virginia to the Atlanta suburbs. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I took a risk to begin my contracting business, Love. Teach. Bless. That has been an amazing risk in which I have met so many amazing entrepreneurs, educators, and friends. I took a risk to apply to be an Instructional Coach, which has led me to where I am now. Risks are a part of life. Risks are how you reach for your dreams.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am an educational coach/consultant on the side of my day-to-day Instructional Coaching. The name of one of my businesses is Love. Teach. Bless., LLC, where I present, coach teachers, and share instructional resources/guidance. I have an Instagram page entitled, @LoveTeachBless, where I have a wonderful community of people who I connect and work with. I also have two businesses with my husband, Michael, entitled Creekmore Conversations, LLC in which we have just gotten off the ground. Our vision for that business is building family engagement in schools and helping to bridge the gap between home and school. We also have Blessed & Bearded Tees which is a t-shirt business focused on education and life.
Getting to where I am today was not easy, but I continue to remain focused on my dreams, the dreams of my husband and myself and our vision. We put God first in all we do and we try to stay tapped in, ask for discernment from God, listen and follow. It hasn’t been easy and things have not always gone our way, however, we know that everything happens for a reason and that every door isn’t for us.
One thing about my brand, our brand, is that it is authentically us. What you see is what you get. We are our authentic selves.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay! If my best friend was visiting the area I would definitely want to take them to eat at Pappadeaux for a nice lunch. We would also go into the city and take a walk around Piedmont Park. We would visit the World of Coke (one of my fave places) and mosey on over to the Center for Civil and Human Rights (so powerful). We would definitely go to Centennial Olympic Park as well. We would experience Ponce City Market to shop, eat, and walk around. So much to do in the A. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many folks I want to recognize for believing in me, my dreams, my risks–first and foremost I want to shout out my husband, Michael and my four kids. Without them believing in me and encouraging me to go big and take risks, I might not have taken some of the risks I have taken. I want to shout out my mother and sisters for always making me feel so good about my decisions–my dreams in the making. Then, I cannot leave out my own coach/mentor, Nicole, who is always helping me think of ways to think bigger and have my own. The entire Get Your Teach/Lead On Family, the SuperHero Teachers on IG–who always support one another, the teacher/friends I work with now and those who I have worked with prior to now. They have all added to my story–have been there–supporting my dreams.
