We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Tiovanni and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, how do you think about risk?
I believe that taking risks are a major part of building success. Some of the most successful people in history made history by thinking outside of the box and going against the societal norm.

I’ve been taking risks since I was a child. But even at a young age, I understood the importance of CALCULATING RISKS. I would always consider the reward vs the risk and the potential repercussions.

My first major risk was believing in myself enough to start a music career at the age of 11- which caused me to be homeschooled by the age of 15 so that I could focus on my career. This was seen as a risk because no one else that I knew that was my age was doing this.

I took a major risk when I dropped out of college to focus on my career in Staffing. And another risk when I quit that career and became my own boss at 23 years old. I’ve always been one to push myself out of my comfort zone to reach new levels.

All of my risks may not have led to the ideal outcome- but I’ve learned from all risks and never accepted failure.

I’ve been a successful serial entrepreneur for the last 10 years because I was never afraid of taking risks.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a CEO, Master Strategist and Author. I’m best known for my ability to give businesses and individuals the blueprint to success. I wouldn’t say that my career has been hard per se, but it has required a tremendous amount of discipline, self evaluation and focus.

I started out my first small consulting business almost 10 years ago after leaving a career in the Staffing Industry. I honestly can’t say I knew what I was doing, I just knew that I had a gift of helping people turn their passions into profits. I had no understanding of my value, how to price my services or how to set boundaries. I always say that I accidentally helped a few people make a million dollars before I truly realized that I needed to be doing this for a living. 5 years later I opened my first brick and mortar business (a MedSpa) and 2 years later I successfully sold the majority of that business. In 2019 I founded 1925 Consulting- a Business Development and Corporate Strategy firm focusing on startups in the Tech, Wellness, Cannabis and Entertainment industries. This was a major turning point in my career- I was a 29 year old Black Female CEO with an office in the World Trade Center. You couldn’t tell me nothin! My first year at 1925 I learned A LOT. I sat in on some of the largest meetings of my career and learned some of the hardest lessons of my career.

For anyone reading this that may want to get into consulting (especially in the start-up space), I have a few tips for you.
Choose your clients wisely! Your reputation is everything and who you associate yourself with speaks volumes.
Establish your value and set boundaries early on!
Remember that almost 90% of all start-ups fail- and you won’t be able to play superhero all the time!
Build a powerful team/network and focus your own blueprint for success as much as you focus on your client’s blueprints for success!
Always place integrity and values over money! All money isn’t good money!

For any Entrepreneur looking for insight- I’d recommend grabbing one of my E-Books.

Also, be on the look out for my latest book which will be available on Amazon on Jan 1.- “Let’s Talk About It- The Ultimate Guide to Communicating Like a Boss.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I spend a lot of time in Atlanta and definitely have some favorite places that I frequent.

First and foremost- we’d have to eat at BAD Gyal Vegan, my all time favorite restaurant.

Then we’d check out my faves Kwassi and Lee over at Moda404 for some of the flyest men’s fashion in ATL.

I’d call my boy King (my favorite ATL Promoter) to set up the best night out for my friends and I.

We’d stop by Suite Lounge and have drinks with Duane (my fave ATL Club Manager).

I’d call Dominique from Lecoeur for some of my favorite cosmetics (best ATL based cosmetics).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
GOD will always get my number one shoutout. When I say prayer is the biggest part of my business plan- I mean it!

My MOM gets my second biggest shout out. From being a Mom-ager, to being a sounding board, to being the best Grandma EVER. Without my mom, I would’ve never been able to be the woman I am today without her.

Major shoutout to my mentors and coaches that have helped me elevate my mind, my business practices and my standards to new highs.

Major shoutout to my soon to be husband and my son Preston that help me maintain a phenomenal work life balance!

And a huge shoutout to all of my staff, associates and clients for trusting me and 1925 Consulting!
