We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I believe seeking balance is the fastest way to stress and disappointment. I discovered that we should see harmony instead, which was one of the most clarifying moments in my adult life. When we seek balance, the slightest change can be catastrophic to at least one element of our lives. On the other hand, creating harmony allows multiple things to flow together no matter how different each piece may be.

Think about your favorite music group(s) – in any genre. They’re comprised of different talents, personalities, and attributes but when they flow together, the magic is created. Every day is different, just like every song is different. Nonetheless, allowing things to flow and intertwine organically can ease the anxiety of disappointing yourself or others. For example, if your current day is unexpectedly filled with parenting tasks and little space for other things that may need your attention, allow yourself a small pocket of time to slide in whatever fits and flows within your busy day. This is a stark contrast of “balancing it all” and forcing a multitude of responsibilities that you THINK you should be doing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a graphics and printing professional with over 23 years of experience. I am the owner of a culturally influenced stationery company and a left-handed supply company.

My stationery company, NikNax Stationery and More, has paper products, stationery, and supplies for all age groups. Our products celebrate OUR culture in the arts, music, movies, history, and more!

Our newest endeavor is Things Go Left, a left-handed supplies company that has left-handed stationery and products just for left-handers. This company was created because my twin boys are both left-handed and I noticed the awkwardness and slight discomfort they experienced in writing when they started grade school, so I decided to create products for them and other lefties like them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta has an infinite amount of places for great experiences!

For a sit-down breakfast, I would suggest Breakfast at Barneys and Grits and Eggs Breakfast Kitchen. If you’re looking to grab and go, make your way down to southwest Atlanta and head to Stems Cafe.

For a brunch experience, I love to suggest Garden Parc in southwest Atlanta on Saturdays and Sundays. The food is amazing and the vibes are unmatched!

For quick or less formal sit-down lunch or dinner, I would suggest US Cafe in Smyrna (American), Fat Matt’s Barbecue, and Nuevo Laredo Cantina (Mexican).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, husband, family, and closest friends deserve all the shoutouts in the world. Without any of them, I would not be able to persevere.
