We had the good fortune of connecting with Nia Symone and Malik Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nia Symone and Malik Brown, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
2 years ago we were both interning at a radio station called “Crush Sports Talk” which gave us the idea of starting our own podcast. When COVID-19 limited access to us going to sporting events, we decided it would be a good time to put our plan into motion and brainstorm a name, segments, and other things that go along with podcasts.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our podcast consists of us talking about sports, culture, music, and anything trending around the world. Our chemistry brings out the best in our episodes, as you don’t see many podcasts with a man and woman on set. We’re most excited about being able to take our podcast to a new level, evolving, and reaching more people with our platform. It took time and hard work for us to get where we are today, but we understood that if you never give up, good things will began to happen in life. We want people to know that you can do whatever you set your mind to, all you have to do is start, because that”s exactly what we did.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you want to have a good view of Downtown Atlanta, the “Skyview” Ferris Wheel is one of the best activities to do. If you want to eat somewhere good, we suggest “Mr. Everything”. It’s probably one of the best spots in Atlanta.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Emmanuel Glaze and Maceo Heard Jr. of the Crush Sports Network deserve some love and recognition. While we were both interning at the station, they always taught us to be authentic, be ourselves, and to perfect our craft. They gave us many opportunities to cover different sporting events around the Atlanta area, which helped us network with other media professionals.
