We had the good fortune of connecting with Neema Naz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Neema, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Up until a few years ago my daily life would be chaotic. No structure, no planning, nothing. Just aimlessly going about my day not taking caring of my habits. I was too caught up on my career stuff I never took the time to take care of my mind and my body. I would excessively eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, slept super later, woke up super late, addicted to my phone and all the notifications coming my way. Spent average 11 hours a day on social media. Talking to girls on my phone wasting my precious time away. Finally took a change in my life and started to build my personal habits. Morning routine/night routines, screen time limits on my apps (average 1 hr a day), consistent exercise 3-4x a week, lifestyle change in clean diet. Without writing things down and scheduling them ahead of time I would be nowhere. It has changed my life for the better. If you’re not 100% as a human, how can you expect to be 100% as a performer?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other artists in my industry is the sheer consistency of effort I put in every single day. No matter how bad I am, how unfunny I may be, or how self conscious I am, I go out there and try everyday. I make content, I write material for standup, I do standup, I write sketches, I produce videos, I edit videos etc… I do it all every single day. I am so happy that I get to do what I love every day, nothing in this world could bring me this happiness right now. I am proud of taking the risk to drop of university to pursue my dream.

I got to where I am today by being funny, trying hard everyday, connecting with as many people as possible and being kind to others. Having a good attitude on its own goes a long way in this industry. No matter how talented you are, if the work ethic is not there and If you’re not easy to work with, it’s useless.

Number 1 lesson I’ve learned is to always listen to your gut and trust your instincts. Get sh*t done for yourself, not for anyone else and don’t ever rely on others. If you want something done do your best to do it in your own. When you rely on others to do something for you or help you out and they don’t, you’re always setting up for disappointment.

You have to believe in yourself more than anyone else can and that’s when people will start believing.

I want the world to know I’m the next biggest comedian in this world because of my versatility, culture, and ability to make the masses laugh. Also, always be yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I don’t typically like eating at restaurants but I would take them to a raptors or leafs game. More interactive and you can also get decent food there. I’m a man of adventure. The more I do in one day the more fun it is. I like to play sports/watch sports, so any sporting event is good. I love dancing and clubbing so I’d take them out to a few different cool clubs/bars. After the club get some late night food to satisfy the munchies 🤣

We would get 1 small thing from many different places everyday. I like to try different things everywhere.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout my parents for supporting me 100% when I dropped out of university 8 years ago to pursue my passion in making people laugh daily. Without their help financially I wouldn’t be able to support my career all these years. Shoutout my brother who came in and saved my ass from crashing and burning. Without him, I would’ve probably made 1000 extra mistakes for my brand, my health, and my life. He keeps me grounded and focused on my vision ahead. Proud to call him my manager.

Shoutout to my friends for supporting the journey! Success ain’t as fun to celebrate if you don’t have anyone to celebrate it with.
