We had the good fortune of connecting with Nameica Craig and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nameica, how do you think about risk?
Simply put… no risk, no reward. I’m a firm believer that risk-takers are the pattern breakers and bread-takers. Risk requires great courage. To jump out into the unknown can be scary. However, those of us that do take leaps of faith (because that’s all risk is anyway) seem to reap a greater reward than those who remain fearful. Taking a risk simply means you believe in the unseen. Visionaries are the greatest risk-takers. We are usually willing to risk it all to see the results we want. We believe so highly in the possibilities that the risk becomes a step in every process.

Risk has played a primary role in all of my endeavors, past, and present. When God gives me the vision or idea and the strategy sometimes, even without a full plan, I know it’s time to act on it, and I just do it. I didn’t always have confirmation that it would work or turn out the way I desired, but most times, it did. Think about it this way; Everything we do involves risk; falling in love, starting a business, breaking away from toxic relationships, making financial investments, trusting new people, selling products or services, or even just being who you are… we are risking something to get something in return. again I say, “no risk, no reward.” I say, Girl, Do It!

What should our readers know about your business?
As an online woman service provider, I own Nameica Enterprises, LLC. Under that umbrella, I operate as NameicaSpeaks, a Personal Development and Content Creation Services Company. To sum it all up, I speak, and I write. As a transformational speaker, personal development consultant, and purpose coach, I offer workshops, seminars, retreats, keynote speaking, and panel appearances. Empowering women by teaching them how to overcome life’s obstacles, discover their divine gifts and develop the confidence and character required to walk boldly in purpose; living out a fulfilled lifestyle of abundance is my purpose and passion.

You know, there’s a term I heard that goes like this; you might do multiple things well, but there is that one thing you do great. I am a Master Storyteller and your favorite “Word Powernista” as a content strategist, ghostwriter, editor, and creative copywriter. I offer professional writing services to high-profile women in business, ministry, and corporate. Need emails, social media posts, sales /landing pages, website content, or want to pay to have your next book written? Get at me. So the people say I’m an awesome speaker, but I know that writing is my greatest gift, and it’s the one thing I’m great at and would do whether I got paid to do it or not. Now that doesn’t mean come asking for freebies, lol! I have a price list.

Ahhh, what sets me apart from others? I’d say it’s my superpower to be transparent and authentic. I’m very open about my journey to my people. I don’t pretend to have it all together, and I do not make the journey to my success appear seamless, effortless, easy, or fairytailish. People admire my ability to be relatable. I share as many failures as I do victories. You know, in the creative industry, people want to see real. People need to see what it takes for one person to get from ground zero to penthouse, and that’s what I’m serving, authenticity.

I have had to face many challenges and obstacles along the way. I am not where I started and have not made it to the place I desire to be yet, but I am grateful for every experience along the way. I can honestly say that the only way I overcame all the bricks thrown at me is my spiritual foundation, faith, determination, a good circle of support, and consistency.

My proudest accomplishment to date was becoming a published author. In my heart, it is equivalent to that college degree I didn’t complete. I broke the cycle of “non-completion.” It positioned me as a subject matter expert.

I’m most excited about the organization that I’ve formed from that book, Girl, Affirm YourSelf!

See, I’m using the bricks life threw at me… I’ve collected them from the rubble to build an empire. The Girl, Affirm YourSelf! Cru is an organization of women standing in unity to raise awareness of the Fatherless Daughter Syndrome in conjunction with my girls mentoring program D.A.D.Y. (Defining And Developing You) that supports the daughters of absentee fathers.

I’m also excited about my recent “BALD Reveal” and sharing my hair loss journey with the world. I had no idea that me telling the world that I wore weave for 33 years and showing them that I’m uncovered and unashamed would have such an impact on women all over the world. This confidence campaign has women ready to snatch their weaves off, deal with other personal flaws, and fears and stand in their truths! Everything I do has a purpose attached to it; no matter how big or small it is to me, it’s transforming the lives of others, and that’s what matters most.

I believe I’ve gotten this far in business by remaining focused on the vision. I’ve networked with many other successful entrepreneurs who have given sound advice and shared their tools and resources. One particular step in my strategy to success is staying in my own lane and not yielding to or copying what others are doing or competing. I do what works for me and my business. My business strategies are divine, so that’s what I follow. I’ve also had gurus tell me what wasn’t going to work but as long as I remained connected to the Creator of all my visions, I was able to prove them wrong. God has also sent and assigned destiny helpers along my journey. Those are leaders or people who are assigned to our elevation, next level.

Focusing on my goals and reaching certain levels of success is what has brought me this far in business. Success is measured by what each of us defines it as, so what another person deems to be a success may not match what I have deemed successful is to me, and that is perfectly ok.

Has this journey been easy? Nope, not at all, but it has been nothing short of amazingly worth it. I’ve had to pause., start over, regroup, switch gears, rebrand, pivot in a pandemic, and still, I rise. It’s all a part of the journey.

I always keep this in mind; a reporter asked Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, “How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?” Edison said, ” I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”

I’ve taken many L’s along the way; lessons that is; and the primary lessons I’ve learned are; Never give in or up to despair, discouragement, or disappointment, be open to change, and the journey to accomplishment is a cruise on a country back road, with many curves, pit stops, speed humps, and caution lights not a speed race, or straight shot down I-20. I’ve learned patience, process oh and SYSTEMS!

I want the world to know that I am passionate about what I do and who I do it for! I understand my why, and I’m flourishing in it. I have much room for growth, and I’m here for the long haul.

My mission is to build a legacy that will outlive me, transform lives today and when I’m gone on to glory. This is my inheritance to my children’s children, children…

My brand story began with a movement called 66Chic, a message I wanted to deliver to the world that greatness comes from the bottom and lives in the hearts of the people in a small town in rural Alabama called Snow Hill and Wilcox County as a whole. It started as what I thought was being positive and inspiring.

66Chic started out being about where I’m from, but God revealed that it’s not about where I’m from it’s about where “WE” are going and what we are striving for.; I live a lifestyle that empowers women and girls to believe in themselves, be confident, and perform at the highest potential in their gifts and always to determine to be a woman who strives to live according to the principles of God. Where do we find those principles? In the 66 books of the bible. That’s what 66Chic is about. That’s what Nameica Speaks is about. That’s what the Word Powernista is about. That’s what Girl, Affirm YourSelf! is about. That’s what I am all about!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My bestie Monique moved back to the A a year ago, so let’s say my childhood BFF Trina is visiting for a week;

BFF”s in the City is the theme!

She’s scheduled to arrive on Friday around noon.

Itinerary

FIRST FRIDAY

First, I’m making sure she’s all checked in; she’ll either stay at The Westin at Peachtree Plaza so we can catch up, have girl talk, grab a bite to eat, and a sip on a few cocktails at The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View before she’s ready to rest and get her energy levels up for the rest of the stay.

Orrrr, I’ll have her stay at this Luxury and Chic one-bedroom AirBNB at Truist Park near the Braves Stadium in Cumberland so we can enjoy the nightlife, great food, drinks, and entertainment at the Battery Atlanta. Either way, it’s going to be LIT!

SHOPPING SATURDAY

We’re getting our day started at the Atlanta Breakfast Club or Breakfast at Barney’s for brunch and mimosas before we do what all girls love to do…indulge in a Lil retail therapy at Atlantic Station. Later that evening, we’re meeting up with a group of my other close friends for a night out at the Roof at Ponce City Market.

SOULFUL SUNDAY

I’m tagging her in to join me in the Cyber Sanctuary on Facebook or Youtube to get our praise and worship on and a good Word in for the week from Pastor P (Pastor Wilbur T Purvis), lead pastor at Destiny World Church Austell, where I have been a member for 9 years.

She should have explored some breakfast or lunch spots on her own at the Battery. I have an event planned for the members of Girl, Affirm YourSelf! Cru at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for a day of sun, nature, outdoor beauty, food, drinks, activities, and tranquility so that she will be joining us there.

We’re having a Sunday meal at 6 PM at one of my local hidden favorite restaurants in Mableton; Cafe’ Social House. It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t take her next door to my girl Barbies Shoe Closet to grab a cute pair of in-season pumps or sandals. We both love Icecream on Sundays, so that we will make a stop on our way back in at Bruster’s!

MOVE IT MONDAY

She wants to work out before seeing other friends and family, so I invited her to join me at the EpiCenter Fitness Center for a Super Circuit Hip Hop aerobics class full-body workout.
I have a membership and can bring a friend for FREE!

I suggested that she and her peeps check out the hottest new restaurant in the city, BLAZE. The ambiance and the food are everything!

TIPSY TUESDAY

Today she’s resting and relaxing, but she’s invited for Tacos & Tequilla Tuesdays on the back deck at my place.

WIND DOWN WEDNESDAY

We’re going to see what Wind Down Wednesday over in Douglasville is all about since it’s no longer at Centennial Park.

THIRSTY THURSDAY

Thursday is a chill day for her to explore the city independently and hang out with other family and friends or visit some of Atlanta’s favorite hot spots like the GA Aquarium or the High Museum of Art. I recommend that she has lunch from Slutty Vegan! Ummmm!

This is our last night in the city, so we’re meeting at another hidden, hot spot I LOVE…Play Bistro and Desserts at 8:30 over in Marrietta for some FABULOUS food, modern music, and DELICIOUS drinks.

FINALE’ FRIDAY

I have a day of pampering scheduled for us. Starting the morning with smoothies from Kale Me Crazy Vinings. Then facials with my Classy Sister ( Classy Living Society… look us up) The Beyouty Therapist Erica Hague LE at her spa in Vinings.

Next, we’re heading back down to my territory in Mableton for pedicures and wine. Then over to this fancy, cute, luxurious hidden gem of a place called the Wig and Bundle Bar, a private herbal yoni V-Steam spa situated in the back. The atmosphere is one of tranquility, healing, and rejuvenation. It only seems right to end our day at Cedar Massage in Lithia Springs for a full-body one-hour massage. They have magical hands that put you in a trans!

I think we’ll have our “last supper” and a cocktail at OLG ( The Old Lady Gang) in the Campcreek Marketplace near the airport since her flight departs Friday at 10:30 PM. She will sleep well on that flight and arrive home happy, peaceful, restored, and have a plethora of memories to reflect on her visit to the A!

Come back soon ya hear!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Whew! I could write a book alone on shoutouts! Let me shout out a few of the greats who helped pave the way for Nameica Speaks:

Shout out to Mrs. Vivian Dinkins-Stith of VDINX Designz Atlanta for introducing me to the Fashion and Modeling Industry. I have always had a profound love for fashion and a unique style of my own but never saw myself as a model until she approached me over 15 years ago. I started my first business while modeling; Trendz by EliSha’ an Image Consulting and Fashion Styling agency. “We don’t follow trendz, we create trendz” was my tagline. To this day, I enlighten my audience and attendees by telling my story of how the runways prepared me for the stage. One of my signature personal development workshops for teen girls is called “Runway to Purpose,” which includes a mini fashion show; inspired by my personal story of being a model turned transformational speaker.

I want to pay homage to Yolanda Zellous of Zellyo Productions for providing me the experience of becoming a published author in my 20’s by being a contributor to her anthology book the Spirit of Big Boned Women.

Now I can’t leave out one of my fav’s Tamika Sims, who I hired as my writing coach and editor of my first Self-Published book, Girl, Affirm YourSelf!. After coaching with her, she mentored me for three months as a writing coach and editor. Tamika helped me to develop my writing skills and taught me how to leverage my writing gifts for profit. It’s my most lucrative stream of income today, so I am forever grateful to her for taking me under her wings.

Last but not certainly not least, let me shout out the fabulous Tip Jones of Tip Jones Global. This was the most amazing experience. She made a Facebook post asking if we could have anything for our business for Christmas; what would it be. I commented on the post stating I would like a branding make-over and was awarded a full start-up scholarship. Tip coached me for six months, taught me everything about building an online business, creating a sales funnel, branding myself as a speaker, and marketing my services. The website, branding photoshoot, make-up, hair, wardrobe, social media marketing materials…all were included in the scholarship program. I created the ElevateHer Scholarship program to offer start-up women in business the boost I once needed myself.

All of these women are worthy of the credit and adoration for being a part of the makings of me.
